Hello All!

I haven't been around much the last couple of weeks as we have been short staffed at work and my running is going to start taking over my spare time on the weeknds.

I have set up my web page with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. As I mentioned in another thread, I am going to run my first marathon June 1 in San Diego. I must raise $3700 to do this. I am honstly a bit more concerned about that goal at the present than I am the 26 miles but I have faith.

I still have the proposition out on the table for any of you that want to join me in the venture. If you would rather support me with donations to get me there, visit my web page. I also have a picture of me and the 11 year old boy I am running in honor of.

Several of you have really encouraged me on this journey to do this and I really appreciate your support. I'll keep you posted of my progress!

web site is www.active.com/donate/tntsoh/tntsohSHouse

Thanks Again!
Stephanie
Kim
Hey there! I went to donate and the site shows as being closed/ended. Do you have the correct address here?
casa8
I'm playing with it....hold on
casa8
Okie Dokie...I think I have it fixed, as well as finally posting a picture here! *WOOHOO*

PM me if anyone has any questions....especially if you want to run with me OR meet me in San Diego!

Stephanie

Sandi
Very cool, Stephanie. I'll be happy to donate to such a worthy cause, and I want to support you in your quest to be a marathoner. You inspire me greatly!

hugs,
Sandi
Damon
Stephanie,

I am going to donate but probably after the holiday's. One thing you might consider is instead of expensive gifts for yourself this Christmas ask your family and friends to donate to the cause. I did this one year for the Tour de Cure ride for diabtes and it was my most successful year of all for that ride.

I am still going to plan on meeting you and anyone else from the hood who makes the trip to San Diego.

Kim----HUGE HUGS! Thanks for the donation, You're the best!

Sandi - I'll welcome all that I can get, thank! I think the web site is easy to use

Damon - I have told several people that that gift would be just fine with me! I appreciate your support when you are able!

I also still have the challenge out there for anyone who wants to do this with me!!! Even if you don't want to do the event, I'd love to get a group of us together in San Diego. As it looks, I will be going by myself. DH will be staying home with my little one, and it's money that we don't need to spend on him going....so I'd love the company!

(I'm up to 8 miles so far....ran last week in 23 degress, thought my chest was on fire!)

Damon
Stephanie,

What a wonderful picture and your daughter is beautiful.

Thanks....I finally got around to getting a picture up, now looks like I should find something a bit more seasonal. I love Kim's dog picture. My little one here is pretty special. She was a 2 pound preemie...this is her 4th birthday party.

Stephanie,
Congratulations on your training & your upcoming event! I will plan to donate after Christmas too. Just think, I am member # 1800 something. If each of us gave just $2.00 you would have met your goal! I hope many will help out this wonderful cause.

Sandi
Stephanie, I still can't get on there. I cut and pasted the address, and it brought me back HERE! heehehheheee. So, can you give me a link?

Here is the link.....hopefully this works! I was pretty pumped about my 9 miler....and pretty sore. I regretfully have been eating poorly this Christmas season and I need to get my training a bit more consistant so after the first of the year getting out a trianing and food diary. Gretchen sent me a wonderful book that is the "handbook for marathon training" and I'm really enjoying learning from it. It was such a wonderful gift...I'm devouring it!

Merry Christmas all of you!

Stephanie
Damon
Stephanie,

The link is working and I am excited for you. I will probably need to wait a little longer but as soon as I can I will donate. I am also looking forward to meeting you and anyone else that might make it to San Diego.
Sandi
Stephanie, it's up and working! You and Andrew look great--what a neat kid! I want to challenge all our neighbors to join in the fun and help out this worthy cause. If everyone pitches in, Stephanie can do this thing...C'mon people!

Wonderful Stephanie! 9 miles is an astounding distance. The farthest I was ever able to run
was 4 mi. and with that, I hit the wall. Can't imagine. What an inspiration.
Happy belated birthday to your beautiful daughter! She'll be running along side
you before you know it!
Sandi
Ok Steph, I put my two cents into the pot! Now, girl, run like the wind!!! Good luck and keep us posted on how the training is going.

hugs,
Sandi
Sandi
Steph, just keeping tabs (ok, getting inspired, alright?) on your progress. Were you able to get your miles in this week? Did you increase your distance or speed? What's the latest?
Sandi
I'm trying to up my distance. I just got my new running log in the mail Wednesday. I felt a little guilty because I didn't fill in last year's totally. I'm resolved to fill all 52 weeks in this year!

So, this past week was my last "walking" week. I didn't just walk every day, I managed to run at the high school track one of the days. More like a shuffle. Not too glorious, BUT I did get out there. You know what amazes me? No matter how crummy the weather is, there is almost always a break that allows me to get my hour in...is that weird, or do you notice that too? Anybody???
casa8
Sandi......Thank you so much girlfriend! *huge hugs* I have been collecting quite a few checks here locally and need to send them in but I think I have about 1300 of the 3700....I SO MUCH APPRECIATE THE CONTRIBUTION!!! (more than you know!)

Lets see.....milage right now staying about 8-9 miles. I have a comrade who is helping me train (i affectionately refer to him as my bastard step brother - not meant to offend anyone). He is the guy that holds me accountable for my runs and now he wants me logged into fitday everyday so he can look at my nutrition.

He plans to bump me to 10 in the next 2 weeks and has signed me up to run a relay marathon in February. My goal is to run 13-15 miles of this run, just not consecutive miles. I will run 2-3, let someone else run 2, then run 3, and so forth. He also wants to take me to a hilly place nearby to strength train on hills (see why I call him the bastard step brother....he puts up with no excuses from me either!) It's kind of like having "Sarge" with me on runs.

I am proud of ou for what you've been up to also. Keep up the good work! Keep posting to me what you're up to and we'll challenge each other to push the envelope a bit!

Again....thank you so much for your donation. I"ll keep you in the loop!

This made me laugh...the only way you'd have me is on a little motor scooter at your side with a bullhorn...can you picture it???

You're doing great and I'm sure that your friends that are out there will pitch in for such a worthy cause!

Thought I'd bump this back up.....I just did my first half marathon yesterday. My biggest training run so far for my June 1st marathon goal in San Diego.

I have a big fundraiser in my community this week....spaghetti dinners, carry out only for family of 4. We sold 125 tickets, feeding 500 people. If all goes well, it will add about $1100 to my kitty!!

Still looking for other SWL hoodlums that want to join me in San Diego for this run!

Stephanie
Sandi
Wowwwwzer, Stephanie, this is awesome! Sending you congrats and good juju! Good luck with the spaghetti feed, and I'm so glad for the update. Half marathon? Woooowwwwwie! Amazing. You're going to be so ready.

hugs.
