sad0049.gif Has anyone had severe abdominal distention? If so, what were the causes/treatments?

I am a 5yr post op. I look as if I am 8 months pregnant, but can assure you that I am not. I am unable to get an appt with my surgeon and am awaiting to see a new PCP. I have a very busy job and find it difficult to get time off to see a physician. Several of them have very little knowledge of RNY patients and I do not want my visits to be a waste of time and money.

Should I go straight to a gastroenterologist instead. What could be causing this?

Any help/advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Well I am not so sure bout Abdominal distention is that like severe gas or pain?? If so I notice I stay bloated and gassie when i was on carbs.......now with my high protein diet it has stopped alot but still not completely. Almost everything I eat tears my tummy up a little. But especially carbs. Sometimes it moves round so hard sounds like osmething i poppin in there, and can be painful at times. Is this what your talking about???

Make getting an appointment for the doctor a priority. I don't even want to offer any words of wisdom on this one! A professional needs to help you my dear.

Sometimes I go to WebMd.com and use their symptom checker
to narrow down possible issues. This, of course, does not take the
place of a trip to the surgeon, but can give some simple solutions to
try while waiting to get in to see her/ him. Give it a try for some
interim peace of mind or a swift kick in the toockus to make that
appointment!
