We had a beautiful snow this morning. It was so much what I wanted to see.
Here's an attempt at repainting the view from our big windows that overlook
the town. Somedays, there's so much to be grateful for.
snow fell, big as cotton balls today
making village buildings down below us
soft behind a magical scrim window
vaseline on wide-angle lens
softens brick and mortar to a vision
like Monet, Seurat, Cezanne
heavy handed on the pale pastels
a stroke of chalk, a swath of pigment
from a wintry brush.
lush, the scene below
a velvet plush effect blankets field and rooftop
wanderers and villagers at traffic lights
hesitate, then hurry with abandon,
their victory lends them extra seconds to the day
hooray! the frilly flakes adorning all, is just the touch
we wished for on this weekend morn
so very close to Christmas.

Wow, I think I will copy that picture and print it. It is the closest I will come to a white Christmas and it is a lovely scene! I am still glad that we don't have the 'after snow' problems though!
Your words were very poetic and appreciated!

How wondrous it is--that special magic of frozen water falling silently. Lovely photos, but I enjoyed the poetry even more (I love words).
My favorite line(s):
"a stroke of chalk, a swath of pigment
from a wintry brush."
Thank you Mickeyfinn. I love your spirit!

We got the snowfall as well, pretty as a picture, 14-18 inches of it! So glad to find another poet in the hood!

Wow, a beautiful photo and poem. I have never been in a place where it has snowed like that either at Christmas time or anytime. How exciting it must be? I would love to have a White Christmas!! Thanks for sharing.
