Hi, I am new to this board. I found it because I had read about the 5 day pouch test. I am on day 2 of the test, still liguids, and hade a small question....Is it ok to use milk in the protein shakes, and how many calories should we be consuming on this test, as well as on an everyday basis???? No one has eve given me a straight answer on this. It is nice to see a board where the people seem genuinely interested and supportive of eachother...I hope to make some friends.......Sunday

Hi Sunday,
I can't answer the technical questions - I haven't had my surgery yet (1/31/08!!), but I wanted to say hi and welcome!
Have a great day!

You can use milk, but only if you can tolerate it. Many of us are lactose intolerant now that we've had surgery. Lactaid is good. When I mix up my powder protein, I use half Lactaid and half water. It just gives it enough umph. Don't worry too much about calories during the first two days. Just be sure to get your required protein in every few hours to keep you full.

Congratulations on doing the 5DPT. It really kick starts those that do it back into that mindset that we all need to remember. Welcome to the neighborhood and I hope you come and post often and let us know how things are going for you!

Sorry I don't know about the milk thingy...but I LOVE Sundays, so you've found a friend here!!! Can't wait to get to know you better.
Have you read the "Cast of Characters" thread yet? I think it's in the intros...If you get bored with life, since you don't have any cooking to do, since you're on the 5DPT (kidding here), you may want to go read about all of us. It's some inspiring stuff.
Best wishes, hope you'll post often,
Sandi

Welcome, Sunday!
I look forward to getting to know you.
Sorry, I can't help about the 5dpt; I'm only 12 weeks post-op.
