Hello, action-smiley-066.gif
I am still very new to the site and haven't posted much but I am doing well I think. I have lost 28 lbs in 24 days and feel good. I still have some trouble getting in all my water and protien shakes so I try to make it up with the meals. (high protien) I am never hungry!!! Everything else is going well, except I have not had a bowel movement in 8 days. I took colace and still nothing. Should I be concerned?
Thank you so much...
Terri

P.S. I wanted to thank you all for the neighborhood. I have been to other sites and they are mostly all whiny and negative. Everyone hear is so supportive and positive. So Thanks... angel-smiley-002.gif

action-smiley-066.gif Terri! Welcome! Congrats on your progress so far. About the constipation. We have all experienced that. After surgery, you just aren't putting much in so you aren't going to have regular bowel movements. If it is truly constipation, you should call the doc and ask him what to take. Mine said milk of magnesia but he neglected to tell me that I should only take half a dose. I learned that the hard way, but it sure worked for me.

Let us know how you are doing and I hope you will post often and read all the great info that is available to you here.

Terri, Constipation was the only major complication I experienced post op, but it was a bugger! I know colace is good stuff. I have a sister in law who is a pain nurse and says that Sennokot-S is what she recommends.

I eat an Atkins' "Indulge" Bar (lots of sugar alcohols) and it cleans me right out! But that is me. I also found that getting enough fluids is key to the whole process--especially at the beginning.

Constipation should not be taken as a joke. It can be an indication of a problem that needs to be dealt with. If you've taken colase and not gotten results, up your fluid intake to at least 64 oz per day. If that doesn't do the trick, I'd call the surgeon.

P.S.: Thanks for the loving on the group. We are a pretty happy bunch, it's not an accident that we're all here!

Terri,

I can't be much help about the constipation; it has not been a problem for me.

I just wanted to jump in here & say, "Welcome to the neighborhood!" sign0016.gif

In order to wake up your gut, I'd suggest the Dulcolax suppository. After that, I'd talk to your doctor about what you can do to keep things regular.

Welcome!

I take a colace daily and 3 servings of Benefiber through out the day and this has worked for me as I was REALLY constipated in the begining! But I did ask my Dr first and he told me to do these things. So call your Doc!! smile.gif
