I am a Triathlete!

Oh my gosh I feel on top of the world my friends. What an amazing feeling doing something like this. 7 months ago I weighed 134kgs (295pds) and couldn't walk 200m without getting a sore back. Today I did a short course triathlon consisting of a 300m swim, 10km bike and 3km walk/run (weighing 91kgs/200pds). I completed it with ease and felt wonderful at the finish.

9 hours later I still have a huge grin on my face and I'm immensely proud of myself. My husband keeps patting me on the back, or what ever else he can reach, and tells me how proud he is of me. My whole family turned out to support me and also some of my husband's family. It meant so much to have such wonderful support.

I have already entered another one in 3 weeks as it's sponsored by the same people but will probably do my next one in 2 weeks. This could become addictive. Wow! What a great addiction!!

Had a wee nap this afternoon and celebrate with a glass of bubbly I deserved that much!

Barb, I am so happy for you! Yes, this new life is addicting. Amazing how much you can accomplish by just making up your mind to do it. I am so glad that you had so much support and that you feel so good. The best thing is that you have already signed up for another!

Barbara, this is really an amazing accomplishment! You are marvelous! I hope that this truly is a new addiction for you. What a way to live. Thanks for sharing the motivating photos too.

What a wonderful accomplishment and I do know how you feel. let that feeling remain as the fire that fuels your desire to exercise. Never forget your first major accomplishment and how it made you feel,compare that to how you were 7 mos ago and build on it. You can go much further and dont let anyone tell you otherwise you may have to go about it differently but nothing is out of reach.

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments. I really need and appreciate your support and encouragement. I am still buzzing and probably will for days. I also bought the T-shirt and have been wearing it ever since. I will wear it to Curves in the morning and then I guess I'd better wash it but I'll wear it often because theres not a lot of us triathletes out there and I'm very proud to wear this particular t-shirt hehe

Thanks again everyone and if I've inspired someone to give this sort of thing ago then that makes be doubly happy.

I have a new catch phrase too!

"From couch potato to Super Spud!" hehe and it only took 7 months!

Congratulations, what an achievement.
I cant imagine myself ever doing a triathlon.........
But then I couldn't imagine being 32kgs down would feel so good either.

Barb I am in AWE!!!!! You need 2 of those t-shirts cause you are gonna wear them out with GREAT pride! Just remember to was cold, gentle cycle and low heat to dry LOL! I just think you look amazing and so healthy in your pictures. Kudos to you Barb for you amazing accomplishments! We are all so proud and inspired.

I started picturing myself with a tiara, my t-shirt and thinking I could post a photo of that but I'll draw the line at a photo with "the other small item" we were discussing hehehe Yes DH will love it. Maybe that could be my next framed print for him haha
