I have a favorite protein drink. Its called NECTAR Capichinno. My other two that i have that i mix with it are ELITE chocolate and ELITE gourmet vanilla. These both make wonderful icy smoothies. With the vanilla i add 3-4 frozen strawberries. O YUMMM. But to make a hot drink i mix 3/4th a scoop of nectar and 1/2 a scoop of whichever ELITE you prefer. Premeasure a cup of liqid and pour about a scant 1/4 cup of it in another cup and mix your powders in this cup of cold water and make a smooth liquidy paste. WHile doing this i cook my other cup in the microwave for 1min and 40 seconds. I try not to boil it. If its boiling cool it down just a bit or it will cook your protein mix as you mix them together. O man is this good. Then i add a squirt of Redi-whip to the top and you have a gourmet hot protein drink!! This is so good. I have 3-4 a day. As for protein bars i enjoy Atkins advantage chocolate bars, peanut butter bars. I like Advant Edge peanut butter bars too. Pure Protein smore are good also. I have found all these at walmart. Most have at least 19 proteins in them. south beach bars are good but only have 10 proteins. Hope this helped someone out there.

I looked long and hard to find protein supplements i could eat/drink. many had terrible smells or textures i couldn't tolerate. any that were high in milk proteins made me dump. i have come upon a regimen that works pretty well for me though, finally!:
EAS AdvantEdge Coffeehouse Cappuccino (ready to drink) with 1/2 scoop of unjury unflavored protein powder, blended well.
This gives me
150 calories
3 g. of fat
3 g. of carbs
25 grams of protein.
I had been shooting for a goal of 75 g of protein a day, but now i'm in the process of upping it. i've lost alot of muscle mass and with exercise and weight training starting back after next week (i've been on a hiatus since nasty complications from gall bladder surgery in february) my goal is to kick my protein up to 100-125 grams a day and get some muscle back on. so, i'll be having 2 of those daily.
the protein drinks come in a 4-pack and can be ordered online. i buy mine on base at the commissary. the unjury i order from their website www.unjury.com

Good morning ladies and gentleman! I went to the grocery and found a few protein bars. I looked at the little nutritional info spot...the sugar in the ones I found were what I felt a wee bit high: 14 & 15g I buy a few of them ....I get them home....I eat one! Hmmmmmm, stomach wasn't particularly thrilled with that bad boy let me tell you. So me being somewhat hardheaded...I eat another one the following day...different flavor, right? Uh,no....not good. I guess the protein bars are not something I need right now. So I am going to try a couple of these other great ideas that have been shared here. If all else fails....I guess it's me and my liver eating self for awhile. It seems to be the only other thing besides the yogurt and cheese that I can tolerate. Now off to find our soda convo....

Yes, you have to watch the sugar and the sugar alcohol content. The only ones that I've found with less than 5g of sugar and a low level of sugar alcohol are the Atkin's Advantage Bars, Atkin's Caramel Bars and Pure Protein by Worldwide. There was another bar that I could only get online and it was full of Omega's...but terribly inconvenient due to the availability. The bonus to the Atkin's bars are that they are full of fiber...gotta love that.

Took your advise Kim and tried out the Atkins Advantage Bars and to my delight I love the caramel fudge brownie bars. Delicious. No after taste.
No sugar added. No sugar alcohols. They are yummy. I eat half at a time and no more than one a day. 12 g's of protein.
I also bought a AtkinsAdvanatge S'mores Bar 17 g's of protein. Haven't tried it yet.
I also take Zero Carb Isopure Powder that you can get from GNC or Vitamin World. One scoop is 25 g's. I have a drink in the morning and one in the evening for a total of 50 g's a day. I mix it in watered down Lite grape juice or cranberry. If I don't take my protein drink I am sluggish and feel out of sorts, got to get that protein in.

Hi Melissa! Glad that you like the Atkin's bars. Now, the S'mores isn't my favorite. I like the Mocha Crunch and the Peanut Butter. Sounds like you're doing just great with your protein and I hope that the bars are curing your need for something sweet :)
