I haven't heard of a milk diet pre op. Every doctor's requirements are so different. I had to do a very low carb plan for 2 weeks pre op, while a good friend of mine was a very low protein/liquids for 7 days prior.

I think it all helps to reduce the fatty liver and makes the surgery easier for the surgeon to perform.

I have found that Fage (a greek yoghurt) is so creamy and tangy. A much different taste than the yogurt we are use to in the store.

My 2 week pre-op diet consisted of sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast and meals (like Lean Cuisine & Healthy Choice) with specific nutritional requirements. Like yours, this was to shrink the liver.

Mark, sorry that I don't know about the milk diet. I do know that getting your liver in the best shape possible pre surgery is vital to having a good laparoscopic experience. A weight loss of even 10 pounds can significantly reduce the fat content of the liver. Too much fat in the liver makes it "brittle" and difficult for the surgeon to lift and work around. Since milk and yourgurt have a pretty high fat content, I'm kind of surprised that these are the foods that your center recommends, but I'm just a layperson.

Best to follow your surgeon's advice at this point. I highly recommend losing all the weight you can before your surgery. and of course, wish you all the best in your journey!
