Hey y'all,

Well I survived Mondays RNY with great success. Besides the RNY the Dr. removed my gall bladder, fixed my hiatel hernia, and removed scar tissure from a hysterectomy I had 10 years ago. My only problems were now my arms are very sore from the IV's and I have something called Sjogrens Syndrome that attacks your moisture glands. my mouth was so horribly dry I couldn't even talk, so the Dr. agreed to give me a sponge on a stick to swish liquid around in my mouth. As I wasn't allowed liquid until the end of the second day.

Now I'm busy writing everything down to make sure I get everthing I am suppose to be having. Oops time for some more protein. My best advice I can give to anyone going into surgery no matter what type is to make sure someone is there with you the whole time, I would have been in big trouble without my husband there to get me chipped ice and contact the nurses when alarms went off.

Aloha Denise,

Take one day at a time. Don't rush into anything so your body has time to heal.

Leisurely walks are good.

Sip sip sip water. Remember to take your viatimins and minerals.

Follow the doctors orders.

Rest.

Praying for a quick recovery.

Hugs

Honestly, take it easy. Get in your fluids and rest. There is probably no way that you will get in all the protein yet, but keep yourself hydrated and do not let yourself get too tired. Keep in touch and YOU HAVE ARRIVED!!!

Congratulations, Denise. I had my lap rny on 1/21. I understand what you mean about keepint everything straight. I hope everyone who goes through this has a special person to be by their side helping with the details. A spiral notebook to write everything down. I keep a list of all my current meds, cuz they've added a lot more now. Everywhere you go, they need that! Also, my blood sugar levels every time I check it. I keep track of what I eat, how much protein I've had and how much water I drink. Hope to talk to you again real soon!

Well a little over two weeks out from surgery, and my incision sure is taking its time healing. I just got back from the Dr. office and this time he gave me some antibodic wash to keep it cleaned out. I will have to keep going to him once a week until I heal up. Until then I have to take it really easy so as not to make it split open more. At least I'm off the liquid phase and am in the next stage of pureed. I never thought I would get so excited about pureed food. Think I'll spend the weekend cooking.
