Would anyone that has one of these programs mind running through the pumpkin sausage soup recipe for me, with turnips replacing the pumpkin? I tried on fitday, but the numbers came out very strange. I substituted 3 small turnips for the can of pumpkin in the recipe...but am trying to keep accurate accounts of what I am eating.
If anyone has an extra minute, would you mind please?
Thanks in advance!

This MasterCook thing has got my attention. Jana and Celadon...you use this all of the time. Is it user friendly? Should I invest?

Kim, it is truly user friendly but remember that when learning any new program, it takes time to get used to it. Here is the Valu Soft webpage that sells MC:
Master Cook 9.0It sells for 19.99 but the great thing is that there are a ton of support websites on the internet that can help you with the program. I can help you with those links should you choose to purchase the product. MC 4.0 was about 75.00 but the program was written by the Sierra company and the program just became too big for the company. I have to say that this program needs a lot of memory so if you don't have at least a half a gig of memory, it probably won't work right. It is capable of so many wonderful things including a tremendous nutritional ingredient list that you can add to. The trick is learning how MC words their entries so you can interface your added nutritional info with it.
For me, it is the best software available for a normal person to learn. I have the "Living Cookbook" and "Big Oven" and a ton of Cook'n software just to name a few of the 40 CD's that I have relating to food and it is by far the BEST of them all.

Thanks alot for the info! Wow... 32 grams of fat/ 80.3% of calories from fat...isn't that high?
I am thinking of buying this program too. I don't know if I am using fitday correctly, so I think I will spend some time with it this weekend just 'playing'.

The fat is coming from the heavy cream and sour cream. If you use the low fat versions of those ingredients, the carb count will go up. Personally, I watch my carbs. I noticed some recipes were listing 21 g. of carbs or more and for me that is just way too much for one serving. I do watch my fat and don't eat a large amount of fatty foods on a regular basis, but I do really count my carbs. I try to stay under 30 for the day.
For me, and this is just my opinion, I have to watch my carbs. They are a trigger for me. Everyone is different, though. Fat can make some people sick. Some it is sugar.

For me, carbs have generally been my downfall...and is what makes me sick. Fats have never really bothered me..so I guess I will stick with it that way. Thanks for running them again!
