Hi all,

My name is Amber and I has WLS 8/15/02. I have recently been diagnosed with Lupus at only 28 and am in constant pain and on many pain mediations that keep your food inhibitions at a low so I have done nothing but gain since the birth of my son 2 years ago( he turned 2 yesterday <3). I am wondering has anyone else every dealt with this disease? I feel very alone and scared because my kidneys are taking the brunt right now and I have 2 young kids who need a mom. I am also incredibly depressed to go from 418 lbs all the way down to 140 now up to 217 :(. I want to be the heathiest me I can give to my kids but right now I am a wreck both physically and emotionally.

I will update with more info about this disease, I have to run and get some house work done before I pick my daughter up at school. Please forgive me if I ask stupid or newb things, I am trying to take in all this info and navigate this amazing site as quickly as possible so I don't make a fool of myself :p

Post often...read alot, and you will find us a very supporting neighborhood!

Amber,
sign0016.gif Welcome to the neighborhood! I hope you will find lots of support, encouragement and friendship here. There is a lot of information in the library and the posts that you will find of help.

I don't know very much about lupus. I had a friend who had it, but he was also dealing with cancer and some other things at the time, so we didn't discuss the lupus much. We were more concerned with his having a comfortable life while the cancer took its course.

It seems like getting your food issues & weight back under control can be accomplished, even with the lupus. Check out the 5 Day Pouch Test. A lot of people are finding it of great help. It will help you get back in touch with your pouch. If you can get this area of your life under control, it should reduce some of the stress and help in getting other areas in control. You can do this! I have had cancer and know that any serious diagnosis is difficult, but having everything in control, that is within your ability to do so, will give you an edge in dealing with the stuff that you can't control.

I hope that came out the way I meant it.

Best wishes!

Welcome to the neighborhood - I don't know anything really about lupus, but I do know that you will find support and compassion here. Please post often - you have found a good place to share.

Hi Amber and welcome to the neighborhood! Am I right in assuming that if you have Lupus, your immune system attacks healthy cells and tissues by mistake? I know that it is very debilitating and must be doubly hard for a young mother who has had WLS. Please do tell us more about your disease when you can and know that there is a wealth of information here to help you! love0028.gif

yes that is exactly what this disease does. The past year it has been eating away at my kidneys which causes me in turn to gain a lot of water weight because my kidneys stop filtering anything out. This makes all the toxins stay in my body and eventually start to poison me. It's been a very scary year of life, my insurance so kindly dropped me so we have basically lost everything to pay for medical bills and medications. Our dreams went up with all of our saving for a home and our dream wedding (I wanted to lose all the baby weight first). The pain is unreal,I no longer have insurance so my medications are all either donated by my former Dr. when he gets trial packets and pain medications from.. well from wherever I can get them. The pain will knock you down for weeks at a time. My fiance has an AMAZING job offer in Oviedo FL that will give all of us great insurance and more than pay the bills. I am praying with everything in me to be out of CA by the end of March!!

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to meet some other people who have had the WLS, both here in CA and maybe make some new friends BEFORE I get to FL. Moving across the US is scary enough but I don't know single person there O_o.

I am so thankful to have found this place, somewhere to vent, share acheivments and not have to worry about admitting my true weight. I lost a lot of my * new friends* when I didn't lose the 60lbs I gained with my son and then gained 20 more, then when you are sick people stop coming around as well. 2007 was not my year, I really want to change that. As soon as I am feeling a bit healthier I plan on dong the 5 day pouch test and changing my diet 100%.

Amber, thanks so much for the additional information. I can't believe that your insurance cancelled you. Wait, I CAN believe it. It is just disgusting. Anyway, where are you moving to in Florida? I live in North Florida. Hope you will end up somewhere nearby.

thanks so much guys <3

I have been miserable sick with a cold and finally had to rush to the dr yesterday to find out I have Pneumonia.

I'm gonna get some rest and try to kick this crap, no insurance = scary times. I hope to be back and doing the pouch test ASAP!
