I had open RNY on 2/9/07. I Never had a G tube so I'm not sure about that aspect! I do have a 3 inch scar that still feels weird to this day! I know that when they cut thru skin and muscle that you lose feeling for awhile. I am almost 1 Year out and I have NO problems with pain. Hang On and keep on posting and we will help! action-smiley-065.gif

Tom, keep taking your temperature. Make sure you don't have any fever. There could be any number of reasons for this. Have you strained yourself by lifting something (even a gallon jug would cause problems)? The main thing is that the G-tube area, once the tube is removed shrinks very quickly. Remember, I told you I had mine for five weeks. The area was very red for some time afterward and it is still hard there. I would have pain if I turned in one direction or another too quickly but the surgeon kept saying that all that was normal and just to be sure there was no fever. Even the sweating was okay.

Let us know how you are doing and if you develop a fever, get yourself to the doc.

TommyG,
Welcome to the neighborhood.
I had some seepage from my G-tube incision, but it only lasted a short time. Please make sure you tell your doc exactly what you are feeling, so he/she can know if something is wrong. Like Barbara said, keep an eye on your temperature. If you have a fever, call the doc's office right away.
Best wishes! Keep us posted on your progress.

action-smiley-065.gif had g tube my self for 2 months! any probs call your doc thats why they get paid the big bucks. normal to get some drainage at site as long as it is not white pus or any reddness spreading around the site or elevated temp.sorry to say it will hurt for a short time but u will heal and forget all about it except when u look at the beautiful scar left behind. best of luck action-smiley-066.gif to ya

Tom,
I had gastric bypass on 1/21/08 and had the drain tube removed a week later. The tube came out my right side just under my breast; inside it went across just under my breasts and down the left side. After the surgery I was having a lot of pain on the left side just under my rib cage and thought it might be CO2 gas bubble trapped there. But the nurse who took out the drain said it was probably discomfort from the drain. That area still aches a bit. The drainage spot is healing well, though.

Tommy, is there a person at your Surgeons office that you can ask about this?
A week is a long time if it's infected or something...

Best to you.
