HI everyone,I had my surgery jan 14th 2008,so far so good.I love reading the posts here,the support is great.I hope to post more often hear.
I am trying to find a way that I can mix up the protein and have it in my hot coffee.I tried it and it didn't work out too well. I would appreciate it if someone could help me with this.

Hi Kim,
Jana probably has you covered in your PM but just in case others are wondering as well I thought I would share what I do.
I mix my protein shake with half as much liquid and then add it to my hot drink. So I will make a chocolate or vanilla latte by adding it to hot coffee. Or adding vanilla to strong Chai tea is great as well. Oh hot coccoa is a great mix too.

Perfect Hot Protein Drink: Put about 1/4 cup or just a couple tablespoons of cold or lukewarm water in cup, add scoop of whey protein mix, stir until it's mixed. Add Hot water, Coffe or Tea. Stir and enjoy! My favorite is Elite Chocolate Mint with Coffee for a super hot chocolate mint mocha. Mmmmmm! Or Vanilla with Chai Tea. Mmmm! By mixing the protein first it won't curdle. If you ever try mixing it right into the hot liquid you know what I'm talking about. Yuk! lol

You can make a paste out of the protein powder... or try it. Some wont work like this. Add a little cold liquid to the powder, (always add the liquid TO the powder, and not powder TO the liquid as this doesn't mix well)... then smash and stir, til smooth... then you can add your hot liquid. However, I have found that if your heating the liquid in a microwave, and it gets too hot, it will cook the protein. It will be lumpy. It works best if the liquid is sent through a coffee maker (like if you are making hot water or coffee)...
Anyway, I prefer latte's with espresso instead of coffee... I am not an avid coffee fan. I make Cafe Americano's which is a little over half cup of hot hot water... espresso, sugar free syrup, and I use a ready to drink protein shake in place of milk. OR, for a regular milk based drink, just heat or steam up your ready to drink instead of water. More protein that way.
