Hey Mark! I'm really tickled...now how about getting some walking in? Have you been doing any sort of exercise?
As for your "crisps"...I'm guessing that these are our potato chips? Like Lays and Doritos? Do what you're willing to do to get these out of your diet. They are an easy food to slip back into after surgery. You need to mentally swear them off at some point. Make a promise to yourself, to me, to God, to your family...anyone that will listen. Promise your body that you are going to give them up!
Okay...now I must get ready for work! I'm dancing for you!!!

Mark, this is wonderful news! I too remember how excited and relieved I was when I got my date. Here's wishing you an uneventful surgery and a quick recovery. Swimming is wonderful! No pressure on your joints and you sweat like mad but don't realize you're sweating cause you are already wet! Best of luck to you!

Congratulations on your surgery date......I remember how excited and a little nervous I was but when it was all over I realized it was a new birthday for me. I felt like my life was starting all over again and I had so much to look forward to. Time flies, I am getting ready for my 3 week check up already.....This is a great journey I am on and its nice to have a place like this to chat and ask questions from those who have already been through it. Keep us posted on your recovery

Hi Mark!
Congratulations! I also got my call today - I'm scheduled for February 25th. I'm nervous and excited and every other emotion you can thing of, probably a few I can't think of too. What are you doing to prepare? So far all I've realy done (besides research) is concentrate on chewing, chewing, chewing. I'm a "fast eater". I tend to inhale food.

Congratulations!!!! Woo hoo!
Such an exciting time....it will be here before you know it! I recommend that you begin NOW taking your supplements (daily vitamins etc.) that way if you are not in the habit of doing this you will establish this habit BEFORE surgery so it will not be such a big deal for you afterwards. Also, I would suggest that you start drinking your water everyday (minimum about 2.5 liters) if you are not already doing this....
Blessings to you and the exciting journey you are about to embark on....

Just like to say a big thankyou for all your kind wishes and support, this is fantastic as I feel I can talk to you guys where I just feel I cannot at home, only my wife understands the pain and the hard fight I have had over the years but sometimes cannot let her fully know the problems as she has enough problems to deal with, but to know that there are so many people out there total strangers who understand the joy of the news and the worry at the same time.
When I talk to work friends they just seem not to understand I think they blame me for not having the will power to lose weight by diet alone but you all know how hard it is to keep it off ,after years of calorie counting, you just hit 1 bad period and bang it back with added pounds to hit you again and have to start all over again.
any way many thanks to you all
kind regards

Mark - I'm so happy that you have a surgery date...a little over a month away!

All my best to you as you walk toward a healthy rest-of-your-life. I really think that once we made up our minds to have surgery we took the first step.
I thought that once I finished my insurance requirement, I could be scheduled. But I learned from my dietician today, who is fabulous and honest, that my surgeon will require that I lose 10% of my weight before surgery. So back to the starting line. At least I have a concrete goal to shoot for this time!
Did your surgeon have that requirement? Oh, and I also learned that he will want me on clear liquids and protein shakes for 4 weeks post op.
Keep posting; it's fun to read about everyone's individual adventure.

Yes Had to lose 30lbs before he would put me forward but my wife helped and work friends did as well also have to go on a high protien shake diet 14 days before surgery and the last 7 days only shakes but it will be worth it in the end only a small price to pay for a better life style
kind regards
