Greetings everyone!

I am preop and my insurance is just being notified this week. I am trying to get myself and my pantry prepared for the upcoming surgery. I asked my nutritionist to give me the information that they normally give you two to three weeks before surgery now. Lots of information I was not aware of and did not hear about at the information sessions they held, like, I have to give myself Lovenox injections for 2 weeks post surgery. Ugh, btw, is that in the arm?

Also I need an abdominal binder. I was told they would give me one at the hospital. My question is do they work ok? Has anyone found one that works better?

sign0016.gif Welcome, Teresa! How exciting to be in the process of getting OK'd for surgery.

The Lovenox injections go in your belly & the needle is tiny. There is very little discomfort, if any. They are more of a bother than anything else. I did them. If your surgeon requires them, then they are important for you. You don't want to end up with a blood clot. That can be deadly!

The binders are nice, if they fit well. While you are in the hospital, ask for a second one to take home. That gives you one to wear while the other is being washed.

Where are you in Indiana? Where will you be having your surgery? Tell us a little about yourself. In fact, there is a "Cast of Characters" forum, I think it's in Introductions but may be in Town Square, where you can introduce yourself.

Best wishes as you work on your approval.
