We are all so reliant on high quality, high volume protein in our diets.
What if the beef we consume is unsafe; taken from cattle not fit
to slaughter. I apologise for the graphic reality of this post, but it
affects us all even your local school lunch programs and food aid
to the needy.

This article and video came from CNN/US news online.

hey folks... this is serious stuff...
I know this borders on the political but,
how can this continue?

Mickee... I could hardly watch that...! Gawd it's awful what some people will do in the name of profit!! I think I'm very glad I don't tolerate beef anymore, 'cuz I don't think I could eat it anymore...

I hope you took time to read the article as well. The problem spans
a bunch of issues... the abuse is one of them and the most visible.
Another is the fact that these downed cows are sick animals...
and have been so for a while. They are slaughtered and the meat is
processed with no concern as to health impact.
To parody ol' Wil Shakespeare, there is "not enough ado about anything" these days.
Where is the outrage?

Hope more than a few Neighbors will take the
time to view this disturbing video but ALSO
to read the article about the questioned safety
of our beef here in the US.

Without getting political here, I have to say that of all the challenges of being post wls, eating meat has been the hardest part of my new life. If you think the beef industry is bad, you ought to investigate the poultry industry! And our nation is better than most of the rest of the world.

I think Sir Paul McCartney has it right (except for his latest
choise in spouses)
. He said... I don't eat anything that has a face.

Okay, I started the video and just couldn't watch it! I am a huge sissy when it comes to mistreatment of any kind. I did read through some of the articles. Very disturbing stuff but it is necessary that we know the facts.

I am grateful that I rarely eat beef anymore but this problem is industry wide. Not just cattle are treated horrifically.

Nice thing about having a friend who raises cattle. We can buy from him, he transports the steer to the slaughter house, where we also have acquaintances working. They package it the way we want and we pick it up when it's done. The small town/rural life is good for something! Actually it is good for a lot.
Thanks for the info, MF, horrid as it is.

Thank you for posting this. This is quite important!

My dad learned the hard way at the stockyards one day to not always buy the cheapest meat out there as he saw a buyer for some hot dog company buying up the animals that couldn't walk, or might have been contaminated due to chemical contamination around the farm or something. Scaredc him to death and he started spending a little more to make sure we were eating better. We may have been poor, but we never went hungry!

That was very hard to watch, beef is something I have no problem with, I think that may change. I find myself far more sensetive than I was before surgery. I know that sounds strange...but I can't explain it. I hope the goverment looks at these videos and transcripts and takes action.

I hope so too Antoinette...
On the topic of developing sensitivities to a variety of food pot-op..
it sure happens! A common on is that many of us become lactose intollerant
when we hadn't ever been before. Until I founf Kaye and the Neighborhood,
I had to avoid protein shake because I was using milk in them and I'd feel
zonked for a few hours after consuming them. I now use the flavored Whey Isolates
like Isopure protein supplement with ice and water and have no trouble at all.
It's different for everyone.
