LAWLS Neighborhood > The Picket Fence: The LivingAfterWLS Social Center > The Celebration Page!

Early this month (February) our own mama Kaye will be the
Keynote Speaker at a WLS Conference in Seattle! Always prepared,
she wants to take plenty of business cards with her to spread
the good word about our LAWLS Neighborhood.
I was happy to help and began throwing out ideas left and right.
Before long, Kaye had settled on two card designs she liked best.
But which one will she take with her?? She asked me to post this
poll so you could all help her decide! Look 'em over and weigh in on your
personal favorite business card! (pssssssssssst! keep an eye on the boutique!
you might see some "must have" goodies there within the next month or so!)

I've gotta tell you guys where the Corvette card idea originated... nature-smiley-001.gif
from Kaye. Her initial idea was to work with the, "You Have Arrived"
theme. She told me she got it from the Valets on Rodeo Drive
in Beverly Hills. When you park your car at the curb, a uniformed gentleman
extends his hand to the ladies to assist them from their vehicle and
their greeting is, "Good afternoon. You have arrived."
SOOOOOOOOOOOO, Kaye suggested a woman, stepping from a fancy car
in nicely turned heels, showing a shapely leg... hat obscuring her face.
So when I sent this card to her, her husband said WHooooooa! I like IT! cool-smiley-013.gif
Silly me! Poor Kaye... She had more of a flowing elegant dress in mind!
It's all about back and forth with a client. And then came the ideas of
spinning off the new web design... rainbows and flowing ribbons...
It's always fun to present a wide variety of options. Fun to hear your
takes on the project!

ok I can see them here but not in the other thread

I vote No. 1.........gorgeous but I bet MOUJ says something about the pink being girlie and there's guys in here too hehehe
Celadon
#1 if the color scheme is changed to the greens that are now our colors. I love the sports car idea but the girl stepping out is too over the top.

I love the idea of #2 but without the story behind it I am not sure that the message comes across so #1 would be my pick.

#2 - All about how you feel on arrival!

The one on the left is more professional and appropriate.

It looks girlie, but my sister is a girl, so that is okay.

At first glance, I like #1, but looking closer, I like #2 also...

I think the #2 needs something else on the white spot to give it some oomph

But #1 is a bit too wild colorful...

I like em both, but then again, there's something about each I dont like too...??
Poohlady
I like #1 but also think that it should reflect the logo out here more.

Hmm...I like #1 because of the colors but it really doesnt remind me of the neighborhood. I like #2 too but it is alittle over the top with the model (esque) woman and the white background makes it look more plain. I tend to like color. But that is just me. So if I had to vote for one i'd vote #1.

Hmm...what about a thinner person stepping out of a bigger one and saying YOU HAVE ARRIVED. I've seen that one on another site somewhere but it's like a bunny unzipping a suit!!

Or making the ribbon a tape measure...Heck...I dont know. A card is a card....#1 is fine.

#1 is my choice. Kaye has come so far and the 2nd would just not portray all the hard work she has put in to the Hood.

Hey everyone! It is great to see your feedback...

I love the concept of #2 although as I told Ms.MickeeFynn I fear people will perceive #2 as advertising for an escort service!!! (be quiet Larry! cool-smiley-013.gif )

If you read our You Have Arrived newsletter a few days ago you understand what #1 and the rainbow ribbons mean to me and the LivingAfterWLS community.

QUOTE
Recently we have been upgrading the LivingAfterWLS website. When searching for a new look it was important that we find something that represents this ongoing experience. As a child of the 80's I thought of the rainbow (remember those rainbow shirts, ladies?). In discussion we said, "Yeah, yeah! The rainbow with the pot of gold at the end." But in further discussion we concluded that the pot of gold is a myth, a false hope, a mirage. The true pot of gold is to be found in the experience. So you will see our new logo is a dynamic rainbow of ribbons wafting in the breeze of living. The ribbon rainbow represents our collective experience, each ribbon a unique and colorful individual. Waving alone one ribbon may go unnoticed, but when we gather together and wave our ribbons the experience becomes a spectacular portrait of living.

Let's hear some more feedback!!!!

Of the two, #1 would be my choice, but I think the site logo at the top of the page is absolutely beautiful and would look great on a business card. It would also tie in the name recognition with the logo recognition.
