When I saw the headline, "No ouch in my pouch!" I realized I've been experiencing an ouch in my pouch for about 10 days now. I don't know that it's my pouch--it's in the general area I imagine my pouch to be. It feels like I ate a chicken leg bone and it's poking me, and it burns in there a little too.
Is it possible to have a gut packed with vitamins that don't dissolve, or is that an urban legend?
I'm going to the pcp today, but I know she will NOT know what it is if it's related to wls...Has anyone out there experienced this before and do you know what it might be and if it's related to my surgery?

Sorry, I don't have any answers for you, Sandi. I just wanted to pop in & say I hope they figure out what it is and make it all better so you aren't in discomfort.
Hugs!

Thanks Jean! Keep your fingers crossed for me. I'm hoping it's just gas or something...

I have had pains but never ones that lasted for 10 days. I am glad that you are getting things started to get it looked at. Have you called your surgeons office.
What is the pain like? Is it a dull constant pain? A sharp one? Does it come and go? Is it worse or better depending on what you eat? Maybe somebody that has gone through blockages or the sort would be able to give you more of a clue as to what is going on. 10 days is WAY too long to be uncomfortable.
Hope you feel better soon!!

I get this every now and then Sandi.. at least something that sounds similar. I very uncomfortable burning sensation..
Have you tried Zantac for acid relief??? That takes care of it for me! Hope you get feeling better soon!
I hv felt some discomfort occasionally, but not for any length of time. I have also felt the same type of pain bc of pain meds I took once.

I can't help with this one but I just want to wish you the best and send hugs.
TEN DAYS???? You waited 10 days for this to get better??? Okay...I promise...I won't hold this against you, but are you NUTS woman?
A full report is expected when you return. Hoping that they take your complaint seriously and make you drink barium and put you through a machine to make sure you don't have some pill lodged in your baby pouchlet. My first thought was an ulcer. I sure do hope that I'm wrong!
Hugs and love,

I don't know why it takes so long to get into a doctor, but often even when you get in, they can't help you. The pain is not constant, and it's dull. Just an ache and a burning every once in awhile. I only brought it up here thinking that if it's a blockage of some sort or an ulcer or something, someone on here may be able to share their experience.
This thing started right after I saw my surgeon for my 2 year visit...He's 350 miles from here. If I don't feel good about what the doctor says, I will email the surgeon.
Of course, as always, I'll keep the hood posted. Especially if the information may be of use for the group!

After the doctor: the fibroid is as big as a golf ball. The anemia is now causing problems. I will begin iron infusions as soon as I get the referral to the hematologist processed. I'm getting a Rx for Ambien right now. As to the abdominal pain, she really thinks it's intestinal distress from too much splenda! oops. I guess I have been hitting it pretty hard lately... Plus she thinks that I am taking in so much iron it's gotta hurt.
One thing really does impact everything else... This is some tricky business, isn't it?
I'll live, I guess.
Thanks everyone for the warm support. You're a great bunch of friends. I love you.
Glad to hear that you've got some Ambien coming soon...many sweet zzz's when that arrives. I take half a pill when I go to bed and then if I wake at midnight, I take the other half. I don't alway's wake up. This was not per doctors orders...it was just something that I figured out on my own...as always...follow your medical professionals advice!!! (got to put that in there!)
Too much Splenda? I just figured that when I hit my limit, I'd know from the tumor that would be growing out of my neck or somethin'...never thought it would come in the form of stomach distress. I've never heard that!
Got to manage all of this stuff...what a pain in the tushy!

Wow, I don't know how I missed this thread. Sandi, I was worried when I started to read the post, but was relieved for you by the time I got to the end. What a lesson learned huh? Who knew that splenda could be so troublesome...
Glad that you know what was causing it, and hope that you are feeling much better...and that you sleep better with the Ambien. I will miss ya in the nite owl club..lol!

Sandi, many many hugs to you. I'm really sorry you are still struggling with your iron levels. I know you have been diligent in trying to get your stores back up. Good luck with the infusions. They should make you feel better. Also, I didn't know you could OD on splenda. Who would have thunk it. Thanks for the info. I pray you feel better soon. Hugs.

Thank you, Sharon! I'm not sure that the Splenda (or any sweetner) is the real problem, but I know that if you eat too much artificial sweetner, it can make you gassy. I was hoping that gas was the problem with the stomach pain. My surgeon kind of thinks that it may be a little ulcer. I'm going to start prilosec today and see if the pain goes away. If that's the case, then Coffee and not Splenda will be the culprit.
This would be sad, but I lived most of my life with out that daily cuppa joe. I can do it again.
Sharon, good to see posts from you! hugs

Sandi, as you know, I follow your trials with iron because of my own issues. I think that from my own experience I can tell you that this may just all be a reaction to too much iron. Remember when I was having 24/7 stomaches and the kind of dull pains you spoke of above? Well, my doc thought I might have an ulcer too but it turned out that it was way, way too much iron and when I cut it back, it was almost an immediate change in the way that I felt. If I remember, just a day or two. Of course, he also put me on Nexium which helped tremendously but now, the insurance won't fill the prescription anymore and I have to wait for my 6 month check up on Wednesday to get something else. He wants to see my labs before giving me alternatives. In the meantime, the symptoms came back with a vengeance so I am really, really hoping that your problem is the same as mine and not a blockage or ulcer. I know you will let us all know the outcome. In the meantime, hugs to you and try to get some sleep.

I suspect too much iron too! I have cut way back, and I hope that the iron infusions will make having to take so much iron a thing of the past. Today I am not feeling any stomach pain. It's weird. But I have not had coffee or iron or really anything except a protein shake and my first batch of vitamins.
PS: The Ambien worked. I took a half, but woke up with both legs cramping in the night...I must have been stretching really hard in my sleep? Anyway, I stretched out the legs and rubbed them, then took the other half of the ambien. I feel fine this morning, just sore legs. I'll keep you all posted if I get any good answers on these questions.
Thanks for all the support and warm wishes!
