Hey all: (Sourthern greeting that generally means hello)

Well, I'm two weeks postop today and I haven't posted since a couple days after surgery. Someone sent me a PM today and wanted an update so here it is: WOW!!!

I don't want to jinx myself and I'm knocking on wood right now, but here goes. On a scale of 1 to 10, I feel like a 12. In no particular order, here are my observations:
Sleep - like a log.
Food - Everything pureed agrees so far and 3 ounces equals full, tastes are like fireworks.
Liquid - 70 to 80 ounces per day is no problem with water, crystal lite, lactaid.
BM - every other day and fairly normal.
Pain - zero.
Incisions - healed.
Exercise - 2 to 3 miles per day walking and 30 minute bike ride daily.
Energy level - off the chart.
Mental outlook - zig zaggy, but overall very positive.
Relationship with spouse - up 100%.
Nausea - very low grade right before bedtime.
Weight loss - 28 pounds.

I haven't posted because I kept waiting for the shoe to drop and it hasn't. I AM SO FORTUNATE!!!!! I feel like the Dr. gave me a shot of energy, enthusiasm, and general vitality.

I am hopeful that this continues on the same course and my new life settles into a comfortable routine. Oh, I had my first cup of coffee today. I've been drinking peppermint tea in the morning. I LOVE coffee. Sorry, no more. Tasted like the bottom of my shoe combined with a dirty ashtray. Oh well, I shouldn't drink the caffeine anyway.

Thanks to everybody for the support .........

Doug, I seriously don't think you will jinx it. I felt that way too and didn't have any real complications that were surgery related. I had some issues due to digestive disorders that can't be fixed by WLS but once that was under control, I was fine. Your progress sounds so much like mine except you have lost more weight than I did in two week. I think I was around 18 or 20 pounds.

Just keep on what you are doing and you will be amazed at how your energy level increases almost daily! I am so happy for you!!!!

What a great report Doug! I still feel ziggy-zaggy...don't know if that's a bad thing...

Keep up with that exercise and water intake. You're doing it all right!

Good report, Doug! Keep up the good work. Your exercise stats are awesome! cool0012.gif

Doug,

I am so happy for you. Wish I could say the same for me. Saw the Dr. again on Thursday. My incision is still not healed. He did give me some antibodic wash to clean it out with. He doesn't want me doing anything I don't have too as he is afraid the incision will open up further. so needless to say no exercise. I'm having trouble getting both my protein and water in and I'm in pain, but only from the incision. I have no energy ususally take a nap everyday. At least I'm on pureed food now and feeling a little better. Until I heal I have to go back to the Dr. every week. What a pain. I know it will all be worth it in the end, but what a painful journey. At least I've lost 25 pounds.Keep up the good work

Denise,
I am so sorry you are going through this. You will heal & then this will all just be a memory. Are you having to do wet-to-dry dressings on the incision? When I had my breast biopsies, one opened up & I had to do the we-to-dry dressings until it healed. Like I said, now it is just a memory.

Keep up the good work. You are doing so well, better than I did 2 weeks after my surgery. My surgery was fine just did not walked that much but not for the lack of trying. Take care and God Bless. Keep us all informed.

Doug -- I enjoyed hearing your update and got a kick out of your description of coffee. It is crazy how our tastes change after surgery. Keep up the good work and give hugs to that supportive spouse.

Denise, hang in there and rest. Make sure you are getting your protein because it will help you heal.

Hugs to everyone!
Sandi
Doug I love hearing your good news! This is just great, and I couldn't be happier for you. Keep up the good work, it takes longer to heal than you think, so be gentle and patient awhile longer, ok?

Best wishes.

Kudos Doug, I know how you feel. Isn't it great? Congrats and keep it up. It only gets better. Ed

Doug & Denise,

Just goes to show how different we all are and how our experiences can be all over the place. Congratulations to both of you on weight losses - and keep up the good work!

We all experience highs & lows at different points. Just remember that this is lifetime change - and what can seem like the biggest challenge will be a distant memory before you realize it. You will weather the storms and the sunshine will be much more persistent in the end!

Take good care of yourselves - and send a hug toward your significant others as well!
