ok dont laugh lol, not even sure if this is in the right place, but im making the ham and split pea soup, and well ive never had split pea before. so the recipe calls for a pund of split peas, im assuming its the dried ones, so the ens consistence is what? are they suppose to stay a little hard or do they turn soft like reg peas, do they plump up or stay little like the hard ones.

thank you for any your responces in advance love0034.gif

The split peas would be dried ones and they should turn soft during cooking, just like dried beans. Maybe even a little softer than beans. The split peas are usually somewhat mushy (and tasty!). Hope this helps. Once you get the soup made, send some my way. Just wrap it up good so it doesn't leak all over my e-mail in box. tongue0022.gif

yep, one note on the split pea soup - I had to keep adding water to mine as it was absorbing all of it long before the peas were done. So, don't be afraid to keep adding water if it gets too thick.

Toris...umm, add more water while cooking it? ~blush~

Guess I know why my split pea soup turned out brown and kinda 'crunchy'. I never made it before...and figured it was done when the liquid was gone...kinda like rice.

::guess this is why I am not a personal chef...LOL::
