A nasty day to be out side, but once we started moving, it was all good. I ran only a little of it, but came away determined in my heart that I will get where I can run 6.2 miles without stopping!!! By gosh and by golly. Now, I just have to get my iron levels under control...

WOOHOO Sandi! cool0012.gif

Good for you! I think that I would have had so many layers on, I'd not been able to move, let alone run! Take a hot bath tonight and warm your bones!

Congrats Missy!

OK silly question. Does that mean you walked, instead of running, the full course? Or that you didn't complete the course? Either way, you are my hero for the attempt!
Celadon
Sandi, this is a wonderful accomplishment for you. Especially because of your issues with the low iron count! I am so proud to be your neighbor! cool0012.gif

I walked most of it--only ran about a mile total. There were a lot of hills, and it was storming during the race. But yes, Jeanie, I finished. My time was a little over 40 minutes for 3.1 miles.

Sandi,

Way to go and just remember it takes time and training. This was your first step and you will move onward from here to reach that goal. Another endurance hero in the hood.

Sandi my friend. You are awesome. You so inspire me. I love your wit and determination. No wonder you have made a success of your wls. I know you will come through this low iron issue with flying colors as well. Congratulations on finishing the race. That is what it's all about. Setting a goal and reaching it. Thanks for your inspiration. Hugs.

party0002.gif Yay Sandi!!! You're an athlete! party0002.gif

Good for you for going out in the cold and doing this event. Many would have stayed home (including me). The one good side to not running the whole 5km is that you'll recover better for not pushing yourself beyond your limits AND you have a challenge to motivate you for the next time. We all need motivation to be taken outside our comfort zone.

Well done my fellow endurance hero (to quote Damon)

cool0012.gif Way to go Sandi....

YOU accomplished so much today you set out to do something and you did not let anything get in your way....you rock...you are amazing and I hope that you know that you encourage and motivate so many here in the hood....hugs

Its sounds like you had a great time, even if it was a little soggy. I can't wait to hear about your many more races to come! What is next on your list!!

sending my love!

OK, you've inspired me. I have taken up cycling and am doing quite well. I have completed 2 long distance organized rides. I do have a goal of running a 5K, but I think I can't do it. I thought I was doing good running on a treadmill last year, and then I went outside and it was awful. That ended my running career. But..........what if I just need to train differently???? I am going to try again. There is a 5K run in my hometown in April. I am going to do it!!

Thank you.

Yeah, let's do it! Just one step at a time, ok? My next one is a 4.1 mile in March. I'm looking forward to it. BTW: My husband looked at the official results last night. I NEVER would have even thought to do that. I was thrilled just to get a number bib. I've got the number bib on the fridge right now... Well, get this--I finished 3rd in my division!!! Isn't that hilarious!? There were only 6 in my division, but hey, I'll take it! What a rush. Not too bad for my first ever race in my adult life! I'm still chuckling over it. Well, he did well too, can't remember exactly, but whatever it was, he was really jacked up and motivated to do it again.

So, Kdescha, you post your daily training, I'll post mine! Or, just pm me with your info. We can cheer each other on. There are others of us on here. We should start our own little forum...

Thanks everyone for your kind congrats. You guys are the best!
