Silly question. When the Mastercook program states the totals it says 'per serving.' What is one serving considered? Is that a wls serving, or a 'regular' persons serving? And what amount is it?

My better half and I have a bet based on this.

Most recipes that I post here in MC format are portioned for 'regular' sized servings of which WLS patients are doing well to eat half of. If it is portioned for us, I usually say that somewhere in the nutritional info. MC relies on the person creating the recipe to determine the portion size. Since most people are cooking for families, I like my recipes to reflect the portion size of the entire family and leave it to you to determine how much of this serving you will eat.

Yay! Then that means I am actually only getting HALF <if that> of the numbers listed...wow..what a difference that will make in fitday!

Thanks Celadon!

I figured this out when I had Celadon calculate the nutrition in the Crockpot Brunswick Stew. I get way more servings out of it & have accomodated for that when I log it in fitday.com. Glad you asked the question, though, because it confirms that I am doing the right thing.

Ladies, just be sure to check and see if there is a specific serving size mentioned, like one cup is one serving. Then, continue to just judge the amount you eat by the servings in the total recipe. If it serves four and you are getting eight servings, then you do indeed count half.
