My bestest friend in the whole wide world calls us every Sunday night. As we're chatting away, I brought up how this wonderful site is working for me and how I've lost some weight. I'm expecting a pat on the back and words of encouragement. Instead, my wonderful friend asks me how my exercise routine is going. "Are you doing that "couch to 5K" you had mentioned 3 WEEKS AGO?" UGH!! I'm so busted! I had to admit, that....NO, I'm a lazy slug who can't get their arse off the couch at the moment. Oh sure, I have my excuses - work (from home), child, husband, cat, dog, work, rain, work, etc. "Uh Huh" he says. It's ONLY 20 minutes on the first level. You've got 20 minutes (bwa hahahahahaha - plus some!!!) to post on your network, why can't you be exercising then? *sigh* I'm so busted! The truth outs...I'm just lazy.

How do you all get yourself motivated? The odd part is - I used to LOVE to do back to back step classes. It was FUN - not exercise. cool0012.gif I haven't found classes that I like here, so trying to find something I like has become a CHORE. Not to mention, funds are kind of low. **as I look up at the TV and see 4 still wrapped exercise DVD's** *eye roll*

Exercise is my big struggle, too. I get in a little walking, stationary bike and running in place, but to do 30 min. at one shot...NOT ME! I am a lazy slug. I hope I turn into that little butterfly soon. Being a slug is really depressing! I am so looking forward to summer here in the cold yukky SW Ohio. We have a pool & I WILL be using it to the max this year. I just wish the season was longer. If I had the money, I'd join Curves, but that just isn't in my near future. Just paying the bills is a struggle right now. So, I'll just plod along & keep trying to motivate myself.

Toris,
That is a huge issue for me as well. I've set little goals for myself.
My movement goal this week was to just DO something everyday. I've been doing one beginning yoga lesson each day. I know that isn't cardio, I know it isn't going to melt away the flab... but it is something to get me back in tune with my weak body! I hope to do my exercycle at the end of the week when my dh is off work and can watch the 3 year old who needs CONSTANT supervision. He knows that he will be responsible for her and that sort of makes me accountable. (I can do the yoga with her because she is doing it with me.)
Good luck! Good for your friend to check up on and care about you.

cool0012.gif I'm right up there with the lazies!!!
I dont mind the working out,,its that I get bored after like 3 days and I stop, start something else, get bored with that and then just say screw it all together.
This morning I got up early, got my workout clothes on,was all set to do step areobics, walked into the kitchen and remembered I went to bed early last night so the kithen was a mess, dishes to be washed, etc. SOOO of course I cleaned the kitchen instead,LOL
I do this often!!!

You're not alone!! love0028.gif

I am making an effort to walk the dog every other day. It is good for me (I lost 11 pounds last summer walking her to Starbucks and back) and she loves to walk.

Last night when I got home from work at 5:30 p.m. I got her leash and watched her get so excited and jump up on her hind legs. She is 45 pounds so it was quite funny.

It is 1.5 miles to and from Starbucks, but if I just walk the block it is 1/2 mile. I have bad knees so this low impact exercise is the best for me.

Now, don't give me arguments "its too cold" "its snowing" blah blah blah ---- walk the mall before the stores open. Most malls are open for walkers. It gets to 115º here in the summer and I got my butt up at 5 a.m. to walk her. cool0012.gif

Walking is easy and its free!

I was in the same position myself...you just have to MAKE YOURSELF GET OFF YOUR DUFF AND DO IT. I hated to exercise, but now I look forward to it. I feel so much better when I exercise. And I also have the benefit of my husband doing it with me. (He's wonderful)
You can do it...just set your mind to it.

Well, low and behold, I got some exercise today...and not by choice. Shortly after writing this, my phone rang. A new client wants me to list 50 acres for him. So...I went out to check out the land and spend the last hour or so "walking" a 50 acre hill (actually only about 20 acres of it) - trudging through pasture (avoiding landmines - aka horse poop), jumping across creeks and climbing up a pretty steep hill. My booty will probably be a little sore tomorrow - but that's o.k. - it was a gorgeous day out! cool0012.gif Perfect time of year to do it - if I tried to do it in the spring/summer, I'd be covered in ticks right now.

Hi Ladies,

I, too can be guilty of not exercising but I LOVE LOVE to go out every other weekend and dance the night away. And inbetween the dancing weekends I would complain to my mom that I wanted to be able to do "fun" exercises. Soooo, my mom went out and bought me Carmen Electric's Strip to Fit 5 DVD set. And I have to tell you it's FUN and REALLY works your body!!
