Does anyone know of a good protein bar that has little to no sugar alcohols? Sugar alcohol makes me deathly ill!!! (I wish sugar made me feel that bad, and I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole either.)

I could live with the laxative effect, it's the extreme nausea that does me in! Anyway, I want to have a few protein bars on hand to help break my grazing habit, and I'm perplexed as to what to try, so calling all experts...yes, that's you! ;>

The two I like the best are the Atkins Peanut Butter Granola bars and ThinkThin Crunchy Peanut. The think thin bars have about 13 g sugar alcohol. I use these on occasion. I primarily use the atkins bars.

I have to be careful too...I eat Atkin's Advantage and Pure Protein (peanut butter flavor only). I've not had any issues with these two little gems!

Okay, I cannot stand the taste of the pure protein bars. That said, after dumping on south beach bars, Pure protein is all I keep in my house for a few reasons. I don't want them to taste too good, like candy and all that used to. I want to know that if I am really hungry, and not head hungry...that it will do it's job, and fill my pouch as well as give me valuable protein. I don't want to get back to relying on food for comfort...and for me, if it isnt delicious, it isnt comfortable.

I have tried Atkins, and the peanut butter ones were a little TOO much like a reese's cup for me..lol.

I don't know of any others that have zero sugars....good luck on your hunt!

I like the Pure Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter....it's really yummers for a protein bar and the sugar alcohol content is 7g/Protein 20g....that still may be too high for you...

I have found these @ Wally World but have also found them @ our Sam's Club in a box of 15 for about $13 which is much better than the WW price of over $1 each...hope this helps.

Blessings!

My current fave right now is the atkins advantage breakfast apple bar. It only has 1 gr of sugar alcohol and 1 gram of sugar. The fat content is a little higher than I would like but I guess it is a trade off....

I have aquestion about the adkins bars....I have seen that serveral people seem to like them on here and I'm just wondering if they have improved over the years...I tried them about 5 years ago and I could barely choke them down and I haven't been brave enough to try them since....just curious if anyone else tried them in the past and didn't like them then tried them again recently and found that they have improved?

Thanks neighbors!

Blessings & luv!

I have only tried them recently Amelia but i can tell you that I like the soy crisp granola-ish type bars and the breakfast one is like that. I am not a big fan of the powdery proteing kind so this works well for me.

Well, I've tried 2 of the Adkins bars. One was a chocolate chip granola thing that was a little too sweet. I also tried the chocolate peanutbutter something, and it was dense! I divided it into 2 pieces, and ate it on different occasions. It was definitely not something I would be guilty of over-indulging on. It still might be useful, since Kim made the suggestion of keeping it just for between meal snacks, to help prevent grazing.

I also tried a Detour lower sugar bar. It was really pretty good. Probably too good, and thus deadly as a snack for this graze-aholic.

I might just stick to onetallmama's peanutbutter balls. One or two seem to be enough to satisfy my cravings to eat, and no sugar alcohol!

Well, the research goes on...

sad-smiley-018.gif Boo hoo - I dump on most protein bars

If I eat half a South Beach, I am OK...

Good luck!
