Okay, I don't get it.

When do I use a measuring cup to measure...and when do I use my scale?

I weighed a half a chicken breast tonight on my brand new scale...and it didn't even hit the 1oz mark. What am I doing wrong? At that point of being able to have between 4-6oz of meat...I will never be able to get that much in...

<shaking my head>

No, I am not blonde. <no offense to anyone please>

laughing-smiley-011.gif You are cracking me up! NOT Blonde, huh? Well I do take offense....NOT! lol!

wub.gif Lemme see...ummm, if I understand your question correctly you want to know when to use a scale to measure and when to use a measuring cup....If the "serving size" is listed as: 4oz Salmon fillet that would mean an actual WEIGHT of 4 oz...a good measure of a 3-4 oz serving is that is should be about the size of the palm of your hand and you use your scales to measure it. If the recipe/serving size says 4oz ground beef or something similar then it is more than likely talking about the 1/2c form of 4oz...as in fl oz...make sense??? Or are you more confused than before you asked?

I understand the difference but I'm not sure I can explain it very well....hope this helps!

Ok, off subject for a minute...how are your kids??? How did surgery go? (or has it happened yet?)

Later chickster!

I think your scale needs to be reset. Before you weigh anything hit the button that says Tare then put the food on to measure it's weight. When it comes to meat you should always weigh it cause its pretty damn hard to fit it in a measure cup! tongue0011.gif LOL Seriously , 4 oz of chicken should be about the size of a deck of cards. Hope this helps. laughing-smiley-011.gif PS. Hey I'm BLONDE!!!!!

Okay...I tossed my wallyworld special scale, and bought a nice one from gnc...

I think I have it. A half of a chicken breast is about 4-5 oz...and anything liquid gets measured in a cup..lol!

Thanks!

Oh, Amelia...she is doing good. Had surgery monday...and is at home recovering still, getting spoiled! She has 6months of pt ahead...but hopefully will be fine. The youngest is having migraines now..so they have a MRI for tomorrow set...we will see where she is after that. The good news is...they are both breathing, healing, and home with their momma! Thank goodness...thanks for asking! <court at the end of the month to see if we cant get that ladies license revoked!>

Oh man! We had a big debate about this a year or so ago. MOUJ had really good answers. Wish I could find that thread!

Anyway, "my" way is to use the cup for things like veggies, the scale for meat. I don't like to eat a half cup of meat, but 3 or 4 ounces I can do (sometimes). Obviously, the cup for liquids and such, but I like the scale for meat--honestly though, I've found that 4 oz. of meat is just about 1/2 a cup... and visa versa.
