OK, I starting over. I tried the 5DPT befor and never really got past day 2. sad0017.gif Sarge was right, I didn't really have my heart in it. I knew I was going to fail from the beginning. After reading all the inspiring posts and some tough to hear comments, I am ready to try again. No, I am going to do the 5DPT and I am going to regain control of my eating habits. I have worked to hard and come to far to settle for anything less than my goal weight. this time I am going to plan my work and work my plan. I am shopping for all the things I need for the whole 5 days, I am going to throw away all the bad snacks that feed the carb monster. I have recruited my hsband for help and plan to prepare all my meals this weekend so I will have no excuses for not eating properly. I have almost eliminated all the caffiene from my liquids, down to 1 diet soda a day. I am going to purchase my flavored water and some diet rite (no caffiene, no sugar, no sodium) but only enough soda for 1 each day. I do have a few questions about the 5dpt. Can I really have as much of the soups as I want at any one sitting? or should I have measured portions? Can I have canned soups? and what about the jello and pudding? how much and can it be store bought in the little cups or should I make it from powder? I am going to do this! I want to do it right. Any words of wisdom on the 5dpt would be appreciated. And thanks for being here. Lola........PS I'm still walking on that old treadmill sport-smiley-009.gif only 15 min/day but still going.

Lola,

First of all, you did NOT fail, you had a minor set up. A hiccup! That's all! I have faith in you!! You WILL take control!! I would suggest using the soup recipes for the Neighborhood! They are awesome. I personally measured out 1c portions and stored them that way.

Can I really have as much of the soups as I want at any one sitting or should I have measured portions? No. Measure out one cup and eat that. If you're still hungry, you can have more. Odds are, you won't be hungry. I wasn't measuring, I just scooped it out and ate it. Turns out I was only eating 1/2 cup and I was filling up. The soup recipes provided are REALLY filling (especially the split pea/Ham and the Lentil Barley).

Can I have canned soups? Personally, I'd stay away from the canned soups solely because of the sodium content. I'm a purist in the sense that I like to follow programs to the T. The recipes provided are proven, why try something else that may or may NOT work? Besides, as mentioned above, the home made soups are really filling (not to mention, pretty yummy!)

jello and pudding? how much and can it be store bought in the little cups or should I make it from powder? I was SHOCKED the other day when someone mentioned the carbs and sugar/sugar alcohol in the little cups of the pudding. I HAD been making it from the instant powder and assumed they were the same. THEY ARE NOT. Stick to the instant powder stuff. As for the jello, check the packages and see if they are the same. If not, go for whatever has the least carbs/sugar/sugar alcohol.

Oh...and GOOD GIRL!!! You sound like you have the right mind set now! cool0012.gif Rock on!

DITTO!!! You can do this Lola! party0002.gif Sausage and pumpkin soup is my personal favorite! And as for portion size the 5dpt states to limit your serving size to 1c per meal and then after waiting if you are still hungry you can have more. As for the store bought soups IF you elect to use them be sure they are the low sodium ones and so that you get your protein add unflavored protein powder to it....

Blessings!
