Seems there are a handful of people here in the So. Cal area. I have approached one or two people and am now wondering out loud, sorry if it seems a bit forward. I find myself trapped at work and very little "social time" and wondered if the people locally would be up for maybe a "social activity" or just meeting new friends. I thought it would be fun to meet someone local with maybe some similar interests and maybe a walk or bike ride would be fun, once in awhile.
Do I seem to forward, I was afraid I would scare people off by asking. I would love to incorporate into my circle of friends, locally, a few who have had similar life styles and have had the changes to it the way I have.

Hello I think I know what you mean. It seems we move too fast to take time to have friends these days. Through life I never felt free to confide in any friend. That's something I am working on now. I hope you have good luck finding someone to share some time with in the future. And no, I don't think it forward, it should make them feel honored that you ask them into your circle of friends. I would.

I want to apologize if this sounds like a desperate attempt to make friends as that is not the case..... I am just hoping to find some people local who have had WLS and would like friends or buddies with a common goal... weight loss and exercise. Just thought it would be fun to have common ground here as I had my surgery in Idaho and the weight loss centers here won't let me attend their support groups because I am not a patient.

It didn't come at wrong, it sounds like something everyone needs, someone who has the same experiences to share good times and the bad. True friends are a rare commodity and I would never think anytime someone wants to find friends with similiar interest as desperate, not even at 2 in the morning. I am sorry if that's how I came across in my reply. Good for you for stretching out, it's not an easy thing to do for me. So I send you cuddo's.

I don't think you sound desperate at all! I think it is a great idea. I am in Northern California though, the SF area. I hope you get a lot of friends together down there and have a good time. Since I've been here this week I have found out that Julie S. lives about an hour and half from me and Kim lives literally about a mile from me!!! What a small world! So I am hoping to meet both of these fine ladies in person, one of these days soon.

I just love the commonality we all share here, having gone through so MANY similar situations and feelings. So to have friends physically near us? GREAT!!!! But I do enjoy the "long distance" friends I have made here!

I dont know where you are but Sandi,Ang and I got together last year when Sandi came to San Diego for a convention.I know Stephanie(casa8) is coming to San Diego to do the Rock and Roll Marathon in June and I think some others were interested also. If you set something up let me know as I would be interested as long as I am not out of town for a cycling event.

Julie S, I am up that way from time to time as my daughters are in Livermore, is that close to you? I have a CPUC seminar in Stockton April 1st, I haven't heard for sure if I am going yet though. I would absolutely love to get together, I'll let you know and maybe we can meet up then.

Anyone in the So Cal area, let's do coffee or just an outing; anytime. Great opportunity for a support system face-to-face.

THat would be GREAT! Lets see...i'm probably 30-40 minutes from Livermore. I think. I have an appt. with my surgeon next week in Danville so maybe I will remember to time it to Livermore. I know it takes and hour to Danville and I think Livermore is closer...we'll see. It could be farther..but i'm BLONDE...dont remember these things!

WOULD LOVE TO HOOK UP! Even if just for a QUICKIE! (snicker..lol..)
