I have a really good reason for asking this question. I am a firm believer that the more informed you are, the better you can handle anything. With that in mind, I want to collect a list of WLS related sites that we can all refer each other to when we are looking for information.

It could be a site that you were impressed with before you had surgery and it helped you to make your decision.

It could be a site that is support for a particular problem or complication.

It could be a product site for WLS related books or food items or support garments.

It could be the site that your surgeon is affiliated with.

It could be a patient advocate site for particular problems whether insurance related or patient related.

Those are just a few ideas to get the ball rolling. I hope you will all put on your thinking caps and post at least one site. I will look at them all and make a list on one thread for us to refer to. The information highway here is getting pretty congested and I want to make it easier for all of us to find things when we want them! Here are a few of my own favorites:

Calorie Counter Database
This site isn't just about calories, it gives all nutritional info about thousands of items and name brands.

Kitpath
This site is a virtual Master Cook gold mine. If you have questions about this program, it can be answered here.

Hungry Girl
OK, she didn't have WLS but is very up to date about all things in the diet world and has some very good recipes in her archives and links to everything imaginable.

Net Lingo
Ever wonder what people are saying when they abbreviate everything they say in a post? Well, this site can give you the answer.

All right everyone, that should get it started. Please, if you read this thread, reply to it. Give us at least ONE site that you really rely on, ok? TIA~!

Okay...here goes.

TheDailyPlate.com I like this site because it does everything fitday does...as well as water intake!

Tickerfactory.com I LOVE THEIR TICKERS!!!!

Bloodbook.com I love having a baseline to go off of when it comes to my blood test results and levels...

Bariatricadvantage.com is the one place I find all my vitamins at in chewable form. They can be a bit pricey, but to me, well worth it.

Thats all I have to share for now. I hope this is what you meant! angel-smiley-002.gif

Wow Celadon, what a great idea. I only wish I could add to it!!! Before my WLS and for the first year after, I was on Spotlight.com and I loved it. It was very similar to this site. I learned so much and felt so supported. Then I got away from it and went to find it again last year and it was gone. :( So when I heard this site mentioned on The View, I was hoping it was like that one. And it is and SO MUCH MORE!!!!!

I am going to make notes on what sites are recommended.

Thanks for starting this!

My favorite off site blog is our own BamaGal's blog...just click on her name and follow the links. She's way out there on the low carb life, and that is a voice that needs to be heard...

I like the fitness forum at Obesity Help.com.

Those are tthe only other places I've ever been.

I used to buy Atkins Bars at the site, but Target has 'em cheaper.

I go to CoolRunnings.com but it's more about running than wls.

I didn't KNOW that there were other places.

Used to go to blogger and type in weight loss surgery and just read random stuff. There was one guy's story that really inspired me to pursue the surgery. I linked a lot of them to my own blog, but I've kind of given all that up at this point.

So, I don't think this is really that helpful, but I tried.

I love Bariatric Eating

I have been a member of Obesity Help (Tennessee forum) since before my surgery.

I love TheDailyPlate.com. Used to use Fitday but it didn't calculate the sugar grams, and also didn't have as many brand name foods.

I love this website, I have come to enjoy it very much in just a short time.

I love my own website, RecoveringFatty.com

I have added my favorite sites to my website under links.

I visit most of these everyday, often times 5 times a day!!! lol

I am addicted to internet

I have always liked the site Obesityhelp.com it helped me with a lot of info before my surgery and it has a lot of info for after too. I struggle with no insurance so I am always looking for info on plastic surgery and nutrition. I also enjoy fitday because it tracks all your calories, nutrients and intake, creates graphs and helps you to keep on track.
And I love all the help and support I've gotten here.
Thanks, Hugs, Deanna wub.gif

I used to go to one on MSN but the moderator keeps censoring me for no apperent reason. I think she has some major issues. I often write the same things as others and I'm the one that gets the posts rejected. I think the moderator doesn't think that the people on her board are responsible adults and she worries that if something worked for me that she doesn't agree with, that she should reject my post. I really can't stand people like that. There must be something she doesn't like about me. She's writing some book based on others' posted stories. Kinda hope it tanks.

Ok...soap box off!

I like this board best! Need to post more often.

Try this: http://backacrosstheline.blogspot.com/
If for some reason this doesn't work, got to the Members tab at the top right of the screen, find bama, go to her profile, then to her posts, click on any one of them & she has a link in her siggy.
Hope this helps!

Cute Overload

Cute overload is a HOOT Nancy... I think we're related....
Here's a pic from there if I remember correctly:

My other favorite site is OBESITYHELP.COM

From this site I gained so much prior, after and during my WLS. I met some fabulous friends TOO!!

I'm very active on the PLASTIC SURGERY BOARD there and frequent it.

I have mentioned to Kaye about adding one...maybe it will come to fruition sometime..because INQUIRING MINDS WANNA KNOW and SHOULD! It's a very delicate thing....choosingi a surgeon to resculpt our bodies and what that all entails. Just like WLS....every doctor is different and that in my opinion is SCARY!!

There is a link to my profile on OH in my siggy line...I think that is why I dont blog so much here....Im blogged OUT! lol...

But thanks NEIGHBORS for the links to check out other stuff as well!
