I attended our monthly "Lunch Bunch" yesterday... this is a group from Obesity Help Tennessee forum in the Middle Tennessee area. We gather on the second Saturday of each month for a time of fellowship and a clothing swap. Yesterday we met at one of the member's churches in their Fellowship Hall. Everyone brought their favorite gastric friendly recipe. I took a can full of makeup and personal items that I had hanging around the house... I hate to throw stuff away when someone else could benefit from it! Anyway.... on to my story....

One of the guys from the group held a computer tutorial. It included how to add a blinking avatar... you can switch it from your before/after pictures... so that's how I came to know about this feature. Notice my avatar is blinking? No its not a figment of your imagination! lol

It's fairly easy to do. I saved a copy of the before and after picture to my desktop. Then went to gickr.com and on the front page, clicked "browse". It allows you to search for your picture... double click on it when you see it on your desktop... then click browse again, and repeat with your second picture. Then look down a few lines, and you can choose the right size needed. Normally, you choose Userpic (100 px wide). You will want to also choose your speed of blinking avatar. I don't like the real fast one... the slow is a good option. But that's entirely up to you. Down the screen, there is a next button. Click on that... it prepares the avatar for you, and should blink. Right click on your newly created avatar, then you will "save as" and save it on your desktop (choose a new name other than what you named your other two originals).

Then you go to My settings in this program, and you can upload it! Whalaa! I hope it works as well for you as it did for me... cause I didn't take any other "classes" from the tuturial other than "Avatars for Dummies"!!

Too funny Melinda! Avatars for dummies? Oh well I guess that is better than WLS for Dummies and I have that book! Love your avatar by the way!
Kim
Super cool! I just did mine...too fun!
BeJean
Thanks, Melinda! I'll be doing this soon. I discovered that what I thought was my "fat" picture was actually after I did Atkins & was down about 80 lbs. My sister is looking for a pic of me before Atkins.

That is so COOL, or bomb or rad or whatever the current slang is! I'll have to try it one of these days!

Melinda! This is so cool! Thanks a bunch! And to think you could have just messed with us and
said, "Blinking??? What do you MEAN, Blinking?????" cool-smiley-013.gif
Dee

Yes I could have said, "What on earth are you talking about? I don't see anything blinking!"

Kim, yes I love your avatar. I showed my boyfriend. I couldn't find the picture of you that I saw the other day, with some woman in front of a table with food, but I told him that you look nothing at all like you were ever obese! You have done great!
Kim
Aw, thanks for the kind words. My outside looks completely different than it used to, but my heart is still the same! And Mel, isn't it just too cool that you can say "I showed my boyfriend..." A boyfriend, whodathunkit???
Sandi
Mel, I like the blinking avatars very much (even though I don't currently HAVE an avatar...long story), but I LOVE that you get together regularly with a local support group. That is way cool!

Thanks Mel! I may actually be brave enough to do this myself soon...this is WAY TOO COOL!!!!

cool0012.gif And OMG, Mel AND Kim, wow how awesome the difference is in your befores and afters! Kim my before/after is very close to yours... LOL! I think I owned the "same" dress as you in your before or at least 1 very similar...in fact in one of my before pictures I am in much the same position, exception, no dog and inside! LOL!!! Praise God for WLS and the changes that occur as a result!

Blessings and luv!!!

Yes Amelia, that was one of my "best" dresses. I loved that it was purple and that it had pockets. Showing dogs required pockets and that was one of my dog show dresses. I had ordered it from somewhere, but I do remember that it was a 5X. I got smaller and my dogs got bigger!

That was so COOOOOOL! I love to learn new and fun things for my computer. Thanks so much for the information.
