I have a question or a curiousity rather about protein shakes.
Putting everything into Fitday this evening I am still way over(more than I would like to be) on my carbs...one due to the soup which is fine but the other being my protein shakes which are 156 cals,9 carbs and 30 protein. I know I am on the 5dpt but I got as many carbs today as I do eating on a reg day! *hmmm go figure (and still got 135gms of protein)

I don't know if this will cause a problem for you or not but I think if the carbs you are injesting are 'good' carbs, it shouldn't matter. If you were eating candy and bread and pasta, you wouldn't be cleaning the bad carbs and cravings out of your system.

I would cut out the other bad carbs before cutting the protein shake since the protein count is so high.... are there dietary fibers in the shake? You know, you get to subtract the dietary fibers from the carb count to get a "net carb" total... for example, if something is 9 carbs, and it has 2 dietary fibers, only 7 carbs are really what effect you.

Don't worry or panic. It is true there are good carbs and bad. IN MY OPINION - Carbs from milk and a protein shake ARE BETTER then carbs from a piece of bread or a candy bar. This doesn't mean you should go out and drink a gallon of milk in one sitting. Just try to eliminate "BAD" carbs.

Bad = Processed carbs (white flour, chips, candy, etc)

Good = Healthy stuff (fruit, veggies, dairy, small amounts of whole grains, etc)

I hope this helps! I am doing the 5DPT. Good luck to you. Hugs.
