Hi everyone action-smiley-066.gif

I too have to say....I LOVE this site. I have felt lost for some time now. I was an success story...losing 100 lbs...only to see it creep slowly back on...well not all of it but a significant amount....half of it....I cannot tell you how much of a loser I feel like now.

BUT..Starting this Monday..I am going to do the 5DPT and I am going to get back on track

I have gained a new spark of hopefulness and will let everyone know the outcome...thanks again

Hey, smiles,

Welcome! I feel your pain... I have also seen about 40 pounds of regain since my surgery in '04 and felt like a failure. I found this place after seeing one of the members on "The View" a few weeks ago and knew it was exactly what I needed.

I am fairly new as well but I've already done the 5DPT and wow... it really helps you feel some control returning. I also had the side benefit of losing a few pounds!

Again, welcome... you'll find nothing but support and help around here. Enjoy, and get ready for the 5DPT... it will change your life!

Hugz,

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to know that it isn't just "me" that has feeling of failure....not that I wish those feelings on anyone...but its nice to know I'm not alone!

I will keep everyone posted!

sign0016.gif smiles! and you have arrived!!!! You've made the inevitable trek all of us
followed after the first blush of freedom from food was replaced by being conquered
by it once again! Oh was a feeling of failure! But you will find that your story echoes
the stories of so many of us who were cut open and then cut loose to fend for ourselves.
Kaye's 5DPT is the center of this Neighborhood. It will help to heal your pouch... give
it a well needed rest, free you from a life of constant grazing and addiction to carbs in
the form of slider foods. We are so happy you've come to be with us! Ask lots of
questions. The wisdom of this group is second to none! Welcome to the Neighborhood!

Smiles,

Welcome to our neighborhood!

I eat three meals a day - no snacking. It works best for me.
BeJean
This is today:
Breakfast - 1/2 c. low fat cottage cheese w/ 1/2 c. peaches in Splenda juice (my standard breakfast)
Lunch - 2 oz. meatloaf w/ 1 oz. American cheese (not the processed stuff)
Dinner - 3/4-1 c. LAWLS crockpot Brunswick Stew (it's in the crockpot now) recipe is in the recipe section of the site...really good!
If I need, I will have a protein shake in the evening (haven't checked to see how much protein the meals will give me)

Welcome! You are at the right place. So many of us have floundered only to find this space a God-send. After 2 weeks on the 5dpt I have lost 7 pounds. cool0012.gif But the best part is, I lost the carb demon. I am also sticking strickly to days 4 and 5 and getting my protein in!!

I don't remember the last time I had a protein drink before 2 weeks ago, but they are very satisfying once you get back into the swing of things.

I won't lie...the first 2 days on the 5dpt as not fun, as your body adjusts to the reduced calories, carbs and volume! But by day 3 I was well on the way to being a believer.

I wish you much success in your venture. This place is a great tool for the long haul!!

Take care nature-smiley-001.gif

Hi, I'm very excited about finding this website - I have already done the 5 day pouch and lost 7 pounds!! It really helped me remember how I was supposed to be eating. I had my surgery 2002 I was someone that was obese but not obese enough to qualify for the surgery without qualifying factors (severe sleep apnea) I only lost 60-65 pounds at that time, and over the last 2 years have gained 30 of that back :( when I found this site and tried the 5 day pouch test - I have been sooo happy. It has given me hope - I completely forgot that I wasnt supposed to DRINK WITH my meals. But Im still scared to eat anything. AND I CRAVE CARBS. Especially crackers - ANY crackers. I'm looking for help in remembering the way to eat now on a day to day basis. I keep thinking i can go back to eating normal as long as its healthy.

Since doing the 5 day pouch I have lost 2 more pounds and REALLY want to continue that. Is the 5 day pouch something I can do over and over?

Hope someone out there has some reminders for me :)

Hi Smiles & LivinLife!!

sign0016.gif to you both.

Smiles, I hope you're doing the 5dpt and enjoying it!! My biggest advice is to check in here for support, it helps!

LivinLife, I think you can do the 5dpt a couple of times to try and get rid of the carb cravings, but you really should incorporate the "rules" of it into your everyday life. Snacking, especially on carbs is not smart, something we all know! If you can accomplish the 5dpt, get used to not snacking and eating a bit less, stopping when you're satisfied, not overly full and listening to your pouch, to your body. Get more protein in your diet. I have found since finishing it a couple of weeks ago that if I eat protein for breakfast instead of the carbs I was eating, I am not hungry til lunch, therefore no snack needed!! I have started having a protein shake every afternoon and that holds me until dinner. You can do it, you just have to get your mind in the right place. If you "slip" every now and then, just pick yourself up. The rule I have always followed is not drinking 1/2 hour before and after you eat, that really helps to keep you full. And of course get in a lot of water and exercise if you can. Eating healthy is the key. I will not live without carbs in my diet, I just don't eat the sweet sugary kind (my personal triggers). If crackers are your trigger, don't have em! Get them out of the house. That helps me. I do not believe that I, as a WLS patient, can ever eat "normally" like other people. We have to bear in mind that we are prone to obesity and it can "come back". Just my opinion!!

Congrats on your weight loss, that is great for you and should help you get back on track.

I hope I've helped a bit!!

Hugs to you!
Terri
Welcome! You've come to the right place. We will all be cheering you on. party0002.gif

Welcome to the neighborhood. Congrats on getting through the 5dpt. I know there is a day 6 plan somewhere & that's what you should be eating now. Don't give into those carb cravings. They are what gained you an extra 30 lbs. Get in your protein & a little bit of veggies if you have room. Drink your water. Take your vitamins. Exercise. You'll have the excess lbs off in no time.

Good luck!

Hi there and welcome to the neighborhood! Sorry I didnt post sooner...for some reason I have missed alot of threads!

Yanno...it is good that you realized there was an issue 50lbs in...and not back at 100 over. You have the control...you just need to find it again. That is where the pouch test comes in.

I believe you will be successful! Just keep up the positive attitude...and work work work!!! cool0012.gif cool0012.gif cool0012.gif
