Hi there, I'm new here. Here's a little backround on me I'm 22 and have been married for almost 3 years, I have a beautiful son who is 2. I want to have more childeren but am terrified that I will lose control of my eating habits like during my first pregnancy. (I would eat a whole cheesecake) Can anyone tell me their experiences with having childeren after WLS. Was it easier? I had a c-section and really don't want to go through that again. Any guidance on this would be so helpful... Thanks to all! smile.gif

All three of my children were post wls. So, I have no comparison to pregnancy before or after. My first pregnancy was before I had clearance from my Dr. Surgery Sept 15. 1997, got pregnant Dec 1997 had beautiful baby girl August 1998. My other two pregnancies as well as my first one did fine. I lost weight during my entire first pregnancy. I only gained about 25 pounds with the previous pregnancies. The baby gets what they need , just take your vitamins and eat normally. All three babies were healthy 7lb babies.

The hard part of any pregnancy is getting the excess weight off afterwards. There is no secret about that. Work work work.

I had my son post-WLS so I can't compare. I would guess it's easier because you CAN'T eat a whole cheesecake (at least in one sitting). There are pitfalls you need to try to avoid (trust me, I fell into them). The most important would be to not get in the habit of grazing and to make sure to take your vitamins. I grazed all throughout my pregnancy (and after) and it's a hard habit to break.

Its great that you are asking now! I have eight children, three after my WLS. I have gained 60 pounds of my 150 I lost. Some due to pregnancy and most to bad habits coming back. I have lots of health problems when I am pregnant...high blood pressure, diabetic...I was put on bed rest a lot which meant little moving around. But I also ate all day long. Its so hard once you fall off the wagon to get back on. Just be aware and if you do get pregnant remember all you weight loss rules and tools and LIVE THEM. And above all enjoy your pregnancy....CHILDREN ARE A GIFT FROM GOD!

Good Luck

Still struggling with the grazing problem. That has got to be one of the hardest habit to break.

If forgot to mention that we're working on getting pregnant too. The difference for me this time (even though my son was post-WLS) is that I have tools to follow. I realize that I can keep my weight gain to a minimum if I just PAY ATTENTION to what and HOW I'm eating. I'm hoping to, at least, lose a few more lbs before I get pregnant. If I can keep the weight gain to a minimum, I won't be where I was when my first son was born - and I have no doubts I'll lose the baby weight more quickly this time around (instead of STARTING when he was 4!!! *eye roll*)
