I wanted to make something nice for hubby today and not just the usual steak and potatoes since I wouldn't eat that anyway. I had to run to Sam's to get a shrink-wrap package of ribs for my daughter who is having them for the weekend and no one has better slabs of ribs than Sam's. They come three full slabs to a package and are loaded with meat.

So, while I was there I was looking for something to cook for hubby. Then I saw it, the boneless leg of lamb. $20.00 for a three pound boneless leg-o-mutton????? Are you kidding me???? Or do I look loaded????(don't answer that!) I figured what the hey, hubby is worth it and he so LOVES lamb. I rarely cook it so I decided to bite the......hmmmmm......and get one. Well, I must be living right today cause there were about 50 of them in the meat case and while I was browsing looking for the best one I found two that were mis-marked. They were marked 0.09 cents per pound. One was .33 cents and the other was.32 cents. I snached those puppies up and all the way to the checkout was thinking of my reasoning for insisting that they allow me to have them BOTH at the marked price. I had several senarios ready and the silly check out girl didn't even look at the price, she just scanned them! Boy did I pay and get outa Dodge in a hurry!

The picture below is of my lovely lamb stew that I made for hubby with one of the legs (the other is TRIPLE wrapped in the freezer and earmarked for a great stuffed, grilled one in a few weeks). The other pictures are of the cute cookies I baked for him and put on the table in the bedroom for him for this evening and the gorgeous orchid he brought home to me!

Now, to the food. The stew has a sliced fennel bulb, a peeled and cubed eggplant, a peeled, seeded and cubed butternut squash, carrots, parsnips and lots of lovely spices. No potatoes! So I can share his dinner!

Nancy, too funny!

Celadon, you're a goddess! What a beautiful, savory meal. Love is in the air!

Did you like the lamb? It is one of my favorite meats and I would have the big "O" finding it at .09/pound! The only way we would get it for that price is if it were road kill! Anyway, try Sam's rack of lamb sometime -- delicious!!!

I am cooking tonight and kind of bummed. We had a romantic suite and dinner reservations in Salt Lake. But now homebound.... So it is steak, potatoes (got him), chilled shrimp and strawberries for dessert. But the good news is I'm with the one I love and we are safe and sound.

Love the orchid, btw! Very nice --- would work in my "Florida" room! nature-smiley-001.gif

Looks very tasty. I just tried Lamb myself last week. Loved it.

Loved it Kaye! He had two HUGE bowls and I ate as much as I dared. Measured it to be sure I didn't overdo. The eggplant just melted and 'thickened' the sauce. Everything else kept it's shape and the lamb was so tender so the pouch just loved it. I will certainly get a rack next time I am in Sam's. Glad you two are safe tonight and hopefully can travel tomorrow.

Those pics look like a perfect ending to a beautiful day. Oh gosh my mouth is watering and craving stew now. I don't think I can find any at 10:00 in the morning.

hugs!
