At our home in northern Ohio we had a big pond (3/5 acre) in our back yard and then there was a 12 foot deep creek at the back property line. In the spring there was a huge patch of purple flox that blossomed at the corners of our property between the pond & the ditch. I always wished I could keep them blooming all year because they were so beautiful.

It's Spring
my favorite color, green
rises like a brush stroke...
viridian puffs of smoke
hover in the trees that waken
from their crowded sleep
upon the mossy hill.
In Spring, fragile olive stocks
prop up the pastel blossoms
safe against the ashen Winter white still there below.
the snow, a drink for yellow pink and white
turns dirt to daffodils and berries
birds and butterflies come hurry home to take a sip
and re-initiate the godly cycle
With Spring
I see the gentle piny green and cherish all as new
this part of earth at least
can launch a fresh beginning
I wake and look around!
I can make this better, newer, green again
with thought, and love, and action from the heart
and mind my choices better
in this burgeoning green season.

This is hard. PURPLE is my favorite color. If you didn't know this, then you aren't paying attention. This has always been my favorite color... since I was tot.
I found the following online. Did you know: Purple is royalty. A mysterious color, purple is associated with both nobility and spirituality. The opposites of hot red and cool blue combine to create this intriguing color.
I love anything (within reason) that is purple.
When I was 3, I had a bathing suit with a PURPLE fish on it. I loved that bathing suit. Maybe, I was 4.
My 2 bat-mitzvah dresses were PURPLE - I still have both in my closet or the cedar closet.
My former bedroom had PURPLE in the color scheme.
I have many things that are purple. I define my own life and I am PURPLE!
I love summer sunsets with whisps of PURPLE amoungst the clouds. I love lavender and purple roses.

I am a green kinda girl...
My grandma <I was raised by my grandparents> used to wear a necklace as far back as I can remember. An emerald stone encased in white gold, with a delicate white gold chain. She never took it off. I can remember constantly taking the clasp and putting it to the back of her neck...and giving her a hug every time I did it. She would always sniff at my neck, and tell me that I smelled like sunshine, grass, and flowers. When I used to help her bathe and get ready for her day when I got to my teenaged years <she was wheelchair bound with many issues related to being MO>, she used to tell me the story of how her mother gave that necklace to her on her wedding day, and how she promised to never take it off. After she passed away, her attorney gave me the necklace with a note. It simply said 'To my daughter and best friend'. I have it on now. The best day of my life was after the wls...when it actually fit my neck again.

I have been thinking about this question most of the day - here is what I have come up with...
There is nothing better then sitting on a sandy beach over looking the blue blue ocean - there is nothing more relaxing then hearing the waves hit the rocks -- the color blue is everywhere and is always so relaxing to look at...

Well for me I'm a red kinda girl and the fact that so many things that I love are red its so hard to decide.....I guess my favorite would be a heart because of what it represents to me I love giving and making someone smile I love to see a person with so much happiness that their cheeks are a red blush and the face of them glow with happiness I love to see a child glow with such happiness because of just a simple hug we give them.....red to me is the color of love, happiness, giving and receiving its a color that to me gives hope.....red roses, red hearts, red cheeks of a person in love, or even a person filled with love what more could we ask for......hugs

I am enjoyingreading everyone's answers. These are great. It is going to be hard to pick two winners. I am glad I don't have to make that decision.
Lynniekins - Maybe I will move to PNW. You and Kaye seem to think I should be there. Ethan is moving to the Left Coast in either the fall or winter. So we will see what happens.
Twinlet - Of course you like purple, we are twins!

Nancy this is a great question, and I'm so sorry I can't answer it right. I just love color and combinations of color too much. Color and absence of color even--this is one of my greatest pleasures in living. My vitamin bottle is a rainbow with each segment a different color and I can't decide which one is my favorite. Every color is like a personal friend to me. I love the orange stripes on the dark grey legs of my kitty. I love flashes of light that hit mirrors and sparkle around the room like diamonds. I love the different shades of green in the tender new woods in the spring. I love the fiery glory of the dying autumn, the white of the snow, the red of the cardinal lighting on the dusky green of the saguaro cactus in migration. I love the glint of gunmetal on hematite. I'm on sensory overload every day and I can never get enough. Once I was in a cemetary and saw a little grey bird working the lichen on the old head stones it flicked in and out, invisible when it held still and then the most extraordinary flash of yellow and red when it flitted--and it brought tears to my eyes to think that it had that amazing little surprise on its tiny little head! The pleasure you feel in a simple glass of cranberry juice--the amazing quality of light shining garnet, that is the pleasure of color.
What a gift! What an incredible example to us of how we should live.
Doesn't it amaze you that even in the bottom of the deep dark ocean, there are the most amazingly colorful creatures living? They'll never see the surface, you'll never see them, but they are colorful anyway.
It brought me pleasure just to think of this topic and to spend a few minutes looking around me in sheer joy. Thank you for this question!
