Vomitting, I have been reading many posts and it seems that several of you have issues with vomitting. My problem is that I physically can't vomit. Even when I am sick and wish I could, it is simply physically impossible. I have only vomited 3 times since my surgery a couple of years ago and very small amounts. Is this normal??? or should I be concerned??? Sometimes whenI have had the stomach bug or such I would have given my eye teeth to just get some relief.
By the way, I also don't dump. I haven't since very early on postop. I don't know if there is any connection or not.

OMGosh Lola!! I thought I was the only one!! Thats why I love this place so much! You come across something and you're like WOW I am NOT alone!!!
About 3 months after my wls I had to have my gal bladder removed(massive gal stones) and ever since then I CANNOT vomit. Since I am eating right and listening to my pouch I dont "wish" that I could throw up from overeating or not tollerating something. But I know there were many many times where I was in tears wishing I could. I'm not sure why we cannot...weird. This is going to sounds gross but I can dry heave with the best of them though,LOL UGH!!!

You're not alone!! wub.gif

I have never been a vomiter. I had four kids and threw up a grand total of once! Something to do with your internal plumbing that is just a bit different than the norm. Don't kid yourself about the dumping though. You do dump, it just isn't as severe as others. For instance, if you break out in a cold sweat shortly after eating something that didn't agree with you or if you get a case of the runs. There are several little signs that you are actually dumping, just not severely. You will also get very tired and sleepy and think it is for no reason but after an hour or so you are okay again. I am actually getting much better at detecting the very subtle ways my body says NO. Sometimes it is harder for us cause we don't get that knee jerk reaction of running to the bathroom to hurl but at least we don't have to worry about finding a bathroom in time in public!

Some times it's "count your lucky stars!"

I don't throw up very easily either.

I rarely dump.

Nothing to be worried about -
sometimes when we feel miserable, we just have to let it ride.

Hope you are feeling better.

I can't vomit since surgery either. There are times that I really wish I could but it just doesn't work that way.

I do dump in subtle ways. The worse I eat the less I notice but that could also be because I almost stay in a constant state of slight dump. Just feeling listless and off. Usually it is food related and if my diet is clean I feel amazing.

I have never gotten sick since having surgery. I also have no problem if I don't sip my water or chew my food to the consistency of applesauce. I have been thinking something is wrong with me. And nothing I eat bothers me at all. I have not tried sugar and have no desire to do so. If I found it didn't make me sick I think I would be a huge failure.

I'm not a puker either. As for dumping, Celadon is correct...feeling "tired" is dumping...a hot flash is dumping. Regardless, putting sugar or white carby stuff inside of you isn't a smart choice, so just assume that you are a "quiet dumper". You don't have to be doubled over on the sofa to realize that you've done something wrong! We, as a group, are much smarter than that!
