I have been so depressed because I had gained 25 pounds over the last 6 months and recently put a post on Obesityhelp.com to ask for advise. Several people suggested I check out the 5DPT to help me get back on track. Everything said here makes so much sense! Slider foods! Who would know! They certainly don't tell you that after your surgery! I had lost only 100 of the 175 pounds that I had originally set as a goal for myself and started to gain the weight back after my last surgery for uterine cancer. As if the cancer scare wasn't bad enough, I was terrified that I had messed everything up and would be back to 336 pounds again. I was getting so depressed. I am only on day 2, but already feel like this is exactly what I need to get me back on track. I will keep you all posted on how it is going. Thanks so much!

Thanks so much. I was wondering if anyone has grocery suggestions for days 3-5?

action-smiley-065.gif Welcome, I too found this site because of weigh gain, you are doing better then I becaue it took me a while to start the 5dpt. So you are on your way and doing great. Look at the 5dpt FQA to get all your info.... I do things a bit different, since I cannot use Artificial sweetners. i use chicken broth and V-8 juice to mix my protein powder....

What kind of protein powder do you use? I have been using the low carb powder from Smoothie king, but don't think it would taste very good in V8 juice.

Brenda,

Just wanted to welcome you to our neighborhood!
You're in for a great start with the 5DPT.
For days 3-5, for groceries I got a little bit of everything listed for the diet.
That way, I could stick to the diet as written but still have variety.

Hi Brenda! sign0016.gif

I think you will love it here. Before I came here a few weeks ago I had not heard of "slider foods" either. I was surprised!

I agree with Gretchen about having some variety of things you might or might not eat on days 3-5. I had a little bit of canned chicken, tuna, baked chicken breasts, ground hamburger, and of course eggs, so I didn't always have to have the same thing, if I didn't want to.

For my protein shakes, I have always used Designer Whey protein powder. I mix it with 1 cup of nonfat milk and some coffee and I like it. It reminds me of chocolate milk. I've never tried the fruity powders.

I'm so sorry to hear about your uterine cancer.

Good luck to you and keep us posted as to how you're doing.

And again, WELCOME!!!

Thank you all so much! I am just finishing day 3 and so far it's going great. My sister had gastric stapling about 25 yrs ago and is doing this with me. I have also recommended this site to one of my co-workers. I haven't gotten on the scales yet, but will weigh in at the end of the week to see if I have started things going down again. Thanks fo all the encouragement!
