I had originally posted this in Sandi's thread, then I thought it would be easier to start a new one so all day 1'ers can post here if you guys want to. I hope that's o.k.


here's my day so far:
10:00 cup of tea w/1% milk--so sad to give up my 1t of honey, but I got over it!

10:30, protein drink, 24 gr. whey protein, 4 oz. 1% milk, 4 oz water.

16 oz bottle water

1:00 1 tall iced coffee mixed w/protein - 18 gr. protein

2:00 1 c. pumpkin sausage soup. I ate it too fast because I was worried about the 15 min rule.. LOL, I finished it in 6 minutes and feel full.

Went out & bought ingredients for talapia recipe, salisbury steak & tuna patties. I'm thinking of making the black bean soup for tomorrow--it might be a waste but then again, look at all the money I wasted on those carbs!

2:40, am having 16 oz water & taking a nap---see ya all later.

I'm also on day 1. I just took a nap myself- glad to see I am not the only one who gets tirecd on this plan! I have no problem following it, the only problem is my energy level. I can't even stay awake, let alone exercise. Thanks everyonbe for the support! It really does help to know that others are going through the same thing. Good luck everyone! We can do anything for five days!!

Hi there! I also started the 5DPT today too Karen as you know! I just woke up (worked a 12 hour shift last night, I am a nurse). Anyway.. I will do days 1-2 for 3 days.. basically do shakes today, tomorrow and Wednesday then progress.. this way I am not cheating myself out of part of one liquid day. I did this last time and it worked well, boy was I ready for something more solid come the day for soft foods! I can do it... WE CAN DO IT! Hang in there! Keep posting. So far just SF jello for me.. 1 cup. :)

Sounds like the best thing to do is what you are doing.. listen to your body and have a few buddies.

My day, so far has gone well.... here is what i've had so far:
Herbalife supplements
8 AM decaf coffee with SF creamer
9 AM same
10:30 AM - Herbalife shake with light soy milk and personal protein powder - 20 grams protein
11:30 16 oz bottle water
12:00 Herbalife supplements
12:45 same shake but with 2 tbl peanut butter (yea I know calories) - 34 g protein
2:00 16 oz bottle diet snapple
4:00 16 oz bottle diet snapple
6:30 10 oz chicken broth and powdered Herbalife chicken soup mix - 20 g protein
We'll see how the rest of the night goes. I still need to do my supplemens as I always forget the night ones....grrrr so i'll do that in an hour....

My energy level is high, as it has been for a while now. I worked all day and still have energy to do things tonight...

Where I had my surgery done they recommend 60 grams of protein a day and 64 oz water. The liquid is not usually a problem...but the protein is, when I snack and do NO NO eating :)

I HATE COOKING!

My black bean soup is still cooking, so I won't be having it tonight. I'll do the elliptical for 1/2 hour, then have more sausage pumpkin soup. then, except for water and a SF popsicle before bed, I'm done for the day. Whew.

Yesterday I cut out carbs & had a headache @ the end of the day; had 1/2 banana, so far, so good today. If I suddenly develop a bad headache, I'll have half an apple. but I think I'll be fine.

Great nap, by the way. When I woke up, I had a protein shake & more water. the day's not over yet, but WE DONE GOOD! laughing-smiley-011.gif

I found this site last week sport-smiley-001.gif and today I started the 5 Day Pouch Test. Today was great I had protein shake for breakfast, one for lunch along with broth, and for diner water and SF popcicle.

Hi Karen.. I am finishing up my day 1 (which I will repeat tomorrow b/c it wasn't a full day since I had to work Sunday night and sleep part of today).. so tomorrow is my official day one.. we will call this my "preday 1"

I had the following....

EAS Carb Advantegde Shake (110 cals/17 protein)
1 cup SF Jello
Gourmet Whey Arctic Frap Cappaccino mixed with 8 oz light van soy milk and ice blended together
1 cup SF Jello
1 cup Split Pea Soup with "fixings" (crmbled bacon, cheese, sour cream like the recipe called for)
1 cup SF Jello
1 EAS Carb Advantege Shake (110 cals/17 protein)
1 cup SF Banana supreme pudding with 1/2 scoop of Gourmet Whey Caramel Protein Powder.

Wow looks like I ate a lot eh? I am proud though considering my days before.. this is awesome! I am IN CONTROL!

Stats: Cals 1016, Fat 32, Carbs 81, fiber 14, Protein 108.

I started again yesterday too. I had 3 rtd protien shakes and 4 bottles of water. Also joined a gym yesterday! Huge step for me. cool0012.gif

Looks great, Melisssa! But then again, I'm newer at this than you are!

I don't know how I got through today, and the funny part was it WASN'T the food! I'm having a terrible time at work, my boss is trying to push me out without paying my salary through May, as my contract stipulates. MY DH isn't working, he's on the waiting list for a liver transplant. Oy Vey! I contacted an employment lawyer, and I know one fellow on the "executive committee" is very much against my being let go, so I can only pray. I'll know more after they meet on Monday.

The strange thing is that I didn't want to eat over it.

So here's my day 2 food:

7:30 a.m. tea w/lf milk & touch splenda (I didn't miss the honey!)

10:00 A.M., protein Shake

1:PM, black bean soup.

4:30 pm, protein shake

7:30 pm, sausage pumpkin soup

now: protein shake. Had 1 cup geen tea & plenty of water during the day. 1 more bottle before bed & maybe a popsicle. This is very late for me to be eating dinner, but I just got home.

I already made the tuna patties & talapia for tomorrow--ONE QUESTION, How is that little tuna pattie supposed to make a meal????????

I just read Sandi's post, and I think I got my answer--

"I looked up day 3 to get my marching orders:

The next three days you get to eat as much as you want as often as you want! Ahhh, but there's a catch: it has to be solid protein and you only get 15 minutes each time you sit down to eat. No drinking 30 minutes before or after meals and no drinking with your food. A dry pouch will hold your soft protein longer helping your to feel full and fed longer."

So I can have 2 tuna patties if I eat them in 15 minutes, or eat one and a second one 1 hour later??? I'm so worried about feeling deprived. Is there a catch here, gang? This sounds too good to be true. (My DH stole one of my patties--he NEVER eats my "diet" food, and he loved it! I told him to keep his paws off my talapia!)

Karen, I think you're reading it right. You can have as much as you need. Satisfy your hunger. The "catch" if you want to look at that way is simply how FULL you're going to feel from eating this dry soft protein with nothing to drink. I put my tuna in a huge bowl and just opened the bowl when I got hungry and ate for satiation. The first time I was done after 5 minutes. The second time I left the lid off for the full 15 minutes and read posts while I was nibbling. Both times I couldn't eat more than 1/2 C. After that, I was just DONE.

I had dinner tonight and ate 2/3 C. Just because it was delicious after that stark meal of simple protein. I think that today was as close as I ever want to come to eating "Purina Human Chow". It's just food. Pure and simple. Don't worry. You won't feel hunger. You may feel bored and a little depressed thinking, "is this all there is to life?" but you're doing the good thing and it's

to feel that your pouch really still only holds a half cup. It really does.

And that makes Day 3 a real gift.

I wrote on your other thread how much I appreciate all your posts, Sandi.

Well, I wrote yesterday that my job is going terribly, and this morning I got an email from my chairman "demanding" that I report to his office (we're not in the same location) Friday at noon. I am literally quaking in my boots, and I don't do that often. I don't know why, this guy always knows what to say to make me tongue-tied. I might just be getting fired! It just seems to be going from bad to worse.

This morning was 1/2 protein drink to take my meds with,
1 coffee
1 bottle water

lunch will be 1 or 2 tuna patties

late afternoon will be cottege cheese w/hard boiled egg chopped in (per Kay's suggestion in the Q&A section)

I might be off my rocker then, but I'll touch base later.

Oh yeah, I weighed myself today; lost 2.5 lbs!

Hi Ladies and current 5 day pouch testers!

Looks like I started the same day as several of you. Day 1 and 2 were no problems....thank god for the pumpkin soup! lol..

Day 3 today..so far I have just had a boiled egg. Brought some Pea soup, cottage cheese and tuna/egg mixture...DONT WANT TO STARVE YA KNOW! lol..

I dont recall getting tired....I just stayed busy and that helped alot..the SOUPS ARE GOOD and I'm cool with good satisfying soups. Didnt add the cheese or sour cream in the pea soup though..forgot about it.

Day 3:

As previously posted, my days are sucking work-wise, but I've managed not to eat over it. Today, that was a major feat!

during the day was harder than I thought it would be...wonder why?

7 AM 1 c tea w/skim
9 am 1 c coffee w/skim

Water, water,

11:00 1.5 tuna patties. I eat so fast, it's a problem. That's probably why I feel full right after I eat but feel hungry an hour later!

3:00 1 hard boiled egg chopped into 1/2 cup cottege cheese. Not the most satisfying meal in the world...or is it just me? I didn't have that protein shake to rely on in the afternoon--I found that to be a big help.

7:00 1 talapia fillet. Quite yummy. Took me 6 minutes to eat. must slow down! I'm much fuller now than after lunch or egg & cottege cheese. the fillet was harder, probably denser protein

8:00 more water & cup of decaf green tea.

I'm so depressed and so worried about meeting w/my boss on Friday. Why do I let this guy scare the cr*p out of me? If he fires me, he'll have a law-suit, as my contract goes through May.

Sorry for dithering on.

On to tomorrow. I have chopped meat to eat when I get home; don't know what to eat during the day. I know it's from day 3, but I might just have to eat tuna & chopped egg w/no mayo, ugg, well maybe a drop!

JUST CONVINCED A CO-WORKER TO ORDER IN--A TURKEY-BURGER IT IS. I'm determined to do this right! --this was supposed to be an edit but turned into a quote.

Hang in there Karen!

It is probably head hunger. Try to distract yourself, drink more water (hard to do sometimes, I know!) or try a protein shake. You know you are under stress and I always feel "hungry" when I'm stressed. Whether I truly am or not. So try and "trick" yourself.

Way to go for the turkey burger! Don't eat the bun though you know!!!

You'll make it, you're doing great!!!

Too funny, Jules. I gave away the fr. fries, threw away the bun, pickles & coleslaw. I ate a little more then 1/2 the burger. Not so easy to get down without ketsup!
You're right about head hunger, I'm sure. Maybe we should call it "heart-hunger."

I have a piece of talapia here to eat late afternoon, otherwise I'd do a shake...thanks for helping me get through the day.
