Full Version: Easy Day 3! Eggs And Tuna
LAWLS Neighborhood > The Town Square: LivingAfterWLS Knowledge Center > WLS Chat > 5 Day Pouch Test
Sandi
I looked up day 3 to get my marching orders:

The next three days you get to eat as much as you want as often as you want! Ahhh, but there's a catch: it has to be solid protein and you only get 15 minutes each time you sit down to eat. No drinking 30 minutes before or after meals and no drinking with your food. A dry pouch will hold your soft protein longer helping your to feel full and fed longer.

This sounds like no protein from drinks. hmmmm. Ok. I'm game.

I'll have a soft-boiled egg before and after work. Luckily for me, I can my own albacore tuna and have a pint of that I can take to work for my meals. I'll mix a little tapatio, so garlic and maybe a little parm in there with it and take some lemon slices to squeeze over before I eat.

For dinner tonight, I am craving the scrambled egg frittata thingy... We'll see. Anyway, I've got an egg calling my name this morning! love0052.gif love0052.gif love0052.gif love0052.gif

I remember it was an egg that was my very first solid food one month after surgery. It was the most delicious thing I'd ever tasted! I ate it soft boiled with a baby spoon. I want to try to eat my egg this morning with the same sense of wonder I tasted that egg.

I"ll check in around lunch and see how you all are doing, and if it's not raining, I want to try to take a brief walk at lunch.

Have a good day everyone, whether you're 5 dayin' it or not. Hope you really LIVE today and notice it all.

Thanks Sandi! Last night I got all the fixins' for Pumpkin sausage soup and
Barley Lentil soup. So I'm staying with the first two days for another two
days. hmmmm.... I guess it's OK. I plan on eating a pickled egg or two during
the day as well. I am stocked up and ready to roll!
Another day at 151lbs... I need to be in the low 130's to get
my BMI out of the "overweight" range. But belly fat is all but gone
and I feel like I don't need to keep camouflage at the top of my wardrobe goals!
Have a great day! Off to do the exercise part of this complete program : )
Sandi
Oops! I just remembered the reason I've not been eating many eggs these past few months...sorry work colleagues, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! I better stop off at the store and get some room deodorizer

@Mf: Wowzer! I'd say you've conquered 151. It's sticking! Way to go!!! I thought you were going for the 140s, but it sounds like you've set your sites a little "lower"...teeee heee heee. Ok! Let's get it going!

Your soup sounds yummy.

Sandi, I love the way you document your travels through the 5Day, so many people will learn so much just by reading the way you go through it and the great attitude you have!

I use salmon in the can, wild salmon, I use to work in a restaurant and found out that the salmon they put in the can is from Alaska, its wild and it is the same salmon as the 16 dollars a pound stuff. I make it with sliced onions, a little fresh garlic, lemon juice, Olive oil and then mix it up like a salmon salad, it is good......... then on add chopped tomato, spinach and what ever other veggies I like...on the 5 dpt you should not use veggies I guess!

Oh, can I get some of that albacore, when i was married my ex used to fish for tuna and can his tuna on the boat...

Hey Julie! You can have as much of the Pumpkin soup as you like!
And guess what! That's what's for dinner at my house too!
love-smiley-011.gif love love love it!
Julie S
Yeah but Mickee...what scares me is that it says 376 calories per CUP! YIKES! That ADDS UP!

However, I AM enjoying it to the fullest!! I think i'll be making it again!!

Can we still have the soups while eating soft protein on day 3 or solid protien on days 4 & 5?

Thanks for the headsup! Cuz even after reading it..it's hard to GET EVERYTHING!! THANKS!!!

Sandi
Well I had my soft boiled eggy for bfast. 5 hours later I'm having the first of the fish. Nibbling slowly on it until I feel done or 15 minutes passes. I have 5 minutes left.

Azuquita: if you want to have a hugfest some August with me, we can can fresh albacore to your heart's content. I put up 2 cases of pints every year! Sure has the store bought all beat to heck. I'm not putting anything but lemon and a squirt of tapatio in it for the test this week. Gotta have it as dry as possible so I can FEEL it, but your recipe sounds really good.

Julie the way I read the instructions is that we progressively get firmer and firmer protein in until we're back to eating solid protein. So, I am cutting out the liquid food today and switching to soft protein (as per the instructions)...yeah, all that lovely soup! Oh well, at least my husband liked it. He loved it as a matter of fact.

If I ever need to do this again, I'll know: don't make a vat of soup! Just enough for day 1 & 2...

Ok, my five minutes is up and I'm putting the tuna away. May have more at 3:00, but I"m feeling pretty satisfied. Kind of like the way my cats look after "fish time"...like I should lick my paws now!

Checking in...day 2, midafternoon. I have had 3 protein shakes so far...and going to have a cup of black bean soup for dinner. I cant wait for eggs tomorrow. This has definitely given me my appetite back..lol, and made me realize how much energy I actually have when getting in enough protein....sheesh have I been neglecting myself. Took all my vitamins so far, and had 74oz of clight too

I will check in again later...got a call from the doc's and have to go in..ugh.

Hugs to all! love0028.gif
Kim
You should freeze the soup in one cup containers...label it "5DPT Survival Kit"...then you'll have it ready for the next round.

MF...I had no idea that you were so little! You are much taller in my head!

Ok, so I just entered what I've eaten on fitday and this is really interesting to me (sorry if it ain't to you!)

2 eggs + 2 C canned tuna in water = 456 calories 17 g. fat 1 g. carb and 81 g protein! Wowzer! now, I'm not done for the day yet, but geez! What an interesting total.

I feel fine, but I gotta say, there is no JOY for me in eating this way. I do feel like a cat. I've always loved my fish and eggs, but today they are just "grub" and I feel rather melancholy. I wouldn't want to eat like this for the rest of my life. It's all black and white nutrition no color of carbs for variety. I'm not complaining, just laying down my own truth. This day has been the hardest for me so far.

now, DINNER tonight has potential. Tuna fritatta with eggs! YAY! (that's supposed to be funny you guys!)

toris
Hang in there sandi! On day 6, you can start adding color. My favorite meal right now is 4 oz of meat or fish with sliced tomato and broccoli florets! Yummy and pretty colorful. cool0012.gif

OK, I read all these posts and responses and I definitely felt like the only guy surrounded by women shooting machinegun comments on five different subjects at the same time. I saw a comedian who said men have boxes in their brains and they talk about stuff in one box at a time and then put it back, while women have one big ball of wire in their brains and everything is touching and connected and tied to everything else. Both are probably true to some degree.

Anyway, I digress. After the early on comment about starting a charcoal underwear deoderizer business, I regret to inform you that you are too late!!! I found this site because all of us where I used to work were going to buy one of the guys some of these so we could ride in the car with him. Check this out:

Mickey Finn: I once had the pleasure of spending some time with Ambassador Shirley Temple. She caught me looking at her feet and just said "Fives". I guess I looked a little embarassed and she said that "what size shoe do you wear?" was her most asked question. I think it's just fair to say that you are much more "grounded" than she was........
Sandi
OMG! Doug, this made me howl! Especially the part that says it's supposed to be "worn next to the buttocks" !!! Hahahhahhaaaa.... Can you imagine the person who actually can't figure that out!?

Thank YOU THANK YOU for sending this link. I will cherish it always!

And that reminds me:
Nancy: I loved your too cute link too! Thank you for a happy 15 minutes this morning!

Hi Sandi. We have 2 threads going, but I want you to know that I'm reading (studying!) all your posts; they're a big help to me, so thanks! I'm looking forward to eating food tomorrow.

Sandi
Well, Day 3 is done for me, and it was a mixed blessing. Look at these weird numbers!

Totals 751 27 4 115

I haven't ever eaten like this before! I think I am a cat now. However, I'm not hungry, I feel pretty good. Like I said above, I'm not very thrilled about eating this way. My dinner tonight was very yummy, but you'll laugh: it was eggs and fish! I put an ounce of cheese and some roasted chicken in there and made a big fritatta. I topped it with some green onion, and it tasted great. I ate about 2/3 C. and gave the rest to the doggies. It was soft protein, but very hearty, very rich and very savory.

I did 30 minutes on the treadmill, but it was freakin' cold tonight. I cut it short at 30 minutes and quickly got in the sauna.

So now I'm offline tomorrow (afternoon) and Thursday (morning), but I think it's going to be very easy to do this after the past 3 days. I don't know how tough it's going to be to do this on the road, but I've got chicken and fish in foil pouches, and I'll try to get good cooked veg to go with it.

How are you doing? I think I've lost my companions. I haven't heard much from the other Day 3 folks, but that's ok, as long as everyone is being true to whatever his or her plan is, and getting their vitamins, getting their water, getting their exercise in. And of course, I hope you're all really out there LIVING.

best hugs,
Kim
Honestly...I think that my six pound cat takes in more calories in a day! I know that my 55 pound dog does...their kibble is 350 calories per cup and they get two cups per day plus pulverized liver and a banana!

Your posts have made me laugh...you're pretty darned good at this writing stuff Missy!
Sandi
I started to name names, and I can't even get them all in!

Thank you everybody. I really appreciate your support and encouragement.
Celadon
What a great thread! Sandi, I can't wait for what is in store tomorrow! Almost makes me wish I was doing the five day too.

Doug, I spit my protein 2 go drink all over my computer screen when I got to the 'next to the buttocks' part too! Thanks for the great laugh!
Marianna11/05
Hi everyone action-smiley-065.gif !

Sorry I kinda dropped off the radar today. My day went well though...protein protein protein...and clight is my friend.
