I am on day 4 and have been feeling great! I even had the energy to take my walk today! I guess I never realized how sluggish I was feeling from all the carbs I was eating. Well, now for my question... How often are you all doing the 5DPT?

Here's what my plan is:

Only use this as a last resort. I plan to "get back to basics" and live on Day 6 for the rest of my life. Simple protein, simple veggies, keep it simple. Keep it basic.

don't let the carbs back in.

Isn't that the point of this? But isn't it nice to know that the plan is here?

Because the 5dpt is a tool to help us re-discover our pouch and to banish the carb monster, it really only needs to be done when we feel ourselves slipping (or have already fallen down the slippery slope). Once you've done the 5dpt, as mentioned before, you can stay on day 6 for as long as you'd like! cool0012.gif The 5dpt is not a diet or an eating plan and shouldn't be used as such. Day 6 (eating protein first, with complex carbs added in) will serve you well in the "diet" phase. You'll be surprised how quickly the weight comes off when you're aren't ingesting simple carbs.

That being said, after the first time I did it, I did well until my son's birthday - where I had a few too many carbs and I could see myself starting to slip. As such, I did it one more time. It worked and I've been doing well ever since.

It's nice to know that should I slip again (or completely fall), that I can do it again whenever I need to get back on track!

Thanks for the encouragement. I guess I am just a little scared I will get off track again. Day 5 is here and I have lost 5 pounds so far! Woohoo!

Keep a positive attitude and keep your faith..those are the most powerful motivating tools in the world.

those fears are totally normal! What I've found, though, is once the carb monster has been banished, it's much easier for me to say no and not slip into that trap. I realize it's much easier to avoid that one carb, than to have to fight the monster again. If you can keep yourself in that mindset, it really helps - and one way to do that is to check in here everyday. Keeping touch with people going through the same thing makes me feel like what I'm doing is totally normal! LOL!
