welcome celeste, i just started yesterday so i am on day 2, this is my second go around with the 5dpt, i did it about 4 weeks ago for the first time and it really worked well, and i have stuck to it pretty good, and lost some pounds along the way, but just decided to give it another go aroun. i will be day 3 tomorrow, but good luck to you, even if no one else starts tomorrow with you, i have found you can come to the neighborhood for support at anytime, i think it is a big part of what has kept me motivated

Celeste,

I too started the 5 dpt yesterday and am in day 2. I wish you great success. I am 3 1/2 years post roux n y gastric bypass. Starting weight was 310 and I am currently 176. I was down to 155, but have rediscovered carbs and sugar and have gained back 21 lbs. I found the 5 dpt online and am giving it a try to regain my tool. I don't have physical hunger since surgery, but the mental hunger is fierce. Good luck.

Celeste,

since this is your second time doing the 5 dpt, how much did you lose the first time around? I am on day 2 and have horrible mental hunger. Good luck to you.

Hey,

I am also new the boards and will be starting day one on Monday the 25th.

So far I have protien powder on hand, and I also made the split pea soup and the sausage and squash soup for day 1 and 2.

What I could use if anyone wants to offer is something I can start to make for day 3 and 4. I just think if I go with canned tuna and hard boiled eggs I may go nuts.

I love to cook and love things that POP with flavor. I remember the first month after I had surgery almost everything I made had to have hotsauce and lots of garlic to make me happy.

Good luck tmw and look forward to hearing how it goes for everyone joining in Monday.

Hi Celeste! I'm new to the neighborhood also and I'll be your buddy. I had open RNY in 2004, My beginning weight was 350, went down to 170and am currently 211 lbs. I would like to lose those 41 lbs.! I've slipped back into my old habits and loving those carbs,, sugars and slider foods. I know what to do, now I just need to do it!! We'll both get back on track tomorrow and buddy up, I know we can do it! nature-smiley-001.gif

action-smiley-066.gif Hi everyone...I'm also new to the boards & just started the 5-day plan today..I'm 5 years post RNY 3/3/03 (my lucky numbers!) I went from 298 to 155 (I was only there about 10 minutes..LOL)

So glad I found this site....I usually drink a protein drink called Real Meals once a day & its great...30 gms protien powder in 6 oz H2O ..so easy & tastes nothing like the othe protein powders I've tried...but I saw that alot of you use the powder called Unjury...how is it...I would like the unflavored one to mix in food...might give it a try!

my stable weight has been 168 for the longest time & have recently upped to 172 so I want to get a head start & hold on to a decent weight before everything gets out of control...I usually manage pretty well, but I notice that I tend to eat soups (homemade/canned/packaged) almost everyday & I tend to like stews & casseroles...I've had steak maybe 8 times in these 5 years (which before surg. I could eat everyday!) & I now find myself prefering cold chicken rather than hot!? Love my cheese...any & all kinds..I only eat canned tuna so I think I might have to really change my habits...I do have occasional pretzel rods & maybe for a treat 2 small Dove candies but lately I've overdone it....so there is my weight gain...

Well, thanks for letting me rant on....Good luck to all & keep posting!

Good Luck to everyone doing the 5 dpt ............... hugs

Well today did not go to bad for me. I did not cheat, but I feel like I may have ate to much. Today was one of my really long days so that is maybe the reason it seems that I ate alot. I work nights so when I am off over the weekend the first day I am back I am up for around 20+ hours.

I am a bit worried that I ate to much. Since surgery I never was able to feel if I was full. I would appreciate some feedback.

Thanks...

So today this is what I had from 5am Monday till around 2am Tuesday
Breakfast:
Coffee with Cream
Protein Shake
Squash and Sausage Soup
Iced tea - 32 ounces

Lunch:
Split pea soup
SF Jell-O
Protein Shake
Coffee
Iced Tea - 32 ounces

Snack 1:
Protein Shake
SF Pudding

Snack 2:
SF Jell-O
Iced Tea 32oz

Supper:
Split pea soup
Protein Shake
Iced Tea 32oz

I know what you mean...yesterday was my day 1 & I had my protein drinks, water & chicken broth. Later in the afternoon I made the ham & cheese soup & had a 1/2 cup but I felt it was too heavy..I also tend to drink alot of coffee with milk throughout the day which keeps me full so I switched to tea with milk in the late afternoon & found that it acted like a diuretic..so then I was able to drink more water. I decided to keep to clear fluids & hopefully day 2 will pass quickly!

I hope everyone else is doing great.

I have been cheat free since monday.

Tuesday was a much better day food wise. I felt really good about the ammount that I ate that day. It was almost half as much as the first day.

Wednessday has also been going great as well.

For breakfast I had an omlet with a bit of tiny diced ham and very finly minced onions.

for lunch
The wife wanted me to go out for lunch so I made her go to a fish joint.
I had mahi mahi a 5 oz portion and 4 green beans 2 pieces of yellow carrots and I was stuffed. Yes I know the veggies techincally was a cheat but atleast it wasnt fries that the fish should have come with.

Prior to doing the 5dpt I could have ate the whole sandwich bread and all the full serving of fries and then maybe helped clean my wife's plate so this has been awsome so far.

I hope it is going as good for everyone else as it has been for me!!!!

Hi JT,

It sounds like you're doing well. My only suggestion is to drink more water. I know what you mean about being able to eat less (not on the 5dpt). It always surprises my husband and I that I can't eat very much! And I'm 5 years out! Before WLS, I could always finish everything on my plate in a restaurant, NO PROBLEM!!!

Good for you with the veges and I agree at least it wasn't french fries! How far out are you?

It seems you all are doing great on your 5dpts.....Good job!!!!

Hugs to you all!

I have a question does this 5dpt work with band patients as well as the gastric bypass?
