Hi everyone, action-smiley-065.gif

I just wanted to say hello. I've been online almost every night since January, reading everyones posts and blogs. I thought I should finally introduce myself.

My name is Julie, I'm 45 years old and 260 lbs. I have a DH and 2 beautiful kids (girl 6, boy 3), we live in sunny cali (ha ha - raining like the dickens). I want to lose 120 lbs forever (though, truthfully I have said that before--the forever part, I mean).

I hope to be having my rny in april. My surgeons office submitted my pre-auth to blue shield on Wednesday, which they said would only take about a week. The office has already called and left me a message. Not sure what they want, but hopefully it's not bad news already. I have to wait until Monday to call them back. Yuck! I hate waiting.

HI Julie,

Welcome to the neighborhood! You are so smart to be researching information here before your surgery! You will be so well prepared!! Good luck on a speedy approval and a complicated free surgery.

Hi Julie and welcome to the neighborhood! Good to see that you are doing your best to gather all the information you can before surgery. It really helps your mental attitude and focus to be prepared beforehand.

Best of luck on your approval and hope to see you here often.

Hello and welcome! Lots of us from CA here...and yes...the rain is a bummer!

Crossing my fingers that you get your approval PDQ!

Julie! You've really been on here all these weeks with no posts! That's so amazing to me. I can't stand to read stuff and not put my 2 cents in. You must be a very wise, patient person! I'll try to type straight and not goof around to much, but I love to kid, so I hope that you'll forgive my foolishness...

Fingers crossed for your arrival in April. Welcome and don't be afraid to post. We're all just regular folk here. Except Kaye. She's a goddess and a superstar, and we're all her devoted groupies... (see what I mean about the foolishness)

Hi Julie,
Welcome I will be having my six year anniversary on March 1st. I am so glad I had the surgery. Good luck to you. Blue Cross was my insurance carrier and I never had any trouble getting approved for surgery. I had sleep apnea, hight blood pressure and problems with my knees and feet.
Hope to hear more from you soon.

Just wondering if anyone had tried buffalo? It is great! high in protien, low fat, low calories. It really tastes great. I have used the burger and roasts so far and I'm sold! If you want to know more about it here is a website. www.bisoncentral.com

Thanks everyone for your comments and good wishes. It's great! Makes the heart lighter!

I'll post when I hear what my docs office has to say.

One of the things that I have been concerned (maybe too strong of a word) about is all the supplements that one has to take for the rest of your life after WLS.

Another thing I've been trying to find is a place where I can get protein shake samples, I don't want to buy a huge container of protein and end up hating it! Anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks,

Julie
Gina
Hi Julie and welcome! sign0016.gif I have Independence Blue Cross and got my approval in less than 2 days. So here's to hoping that they want to schedule you for your surgery. About the protein supplements just google protein powder samples and a bunch will pop up. As for the supplements you will have to take at least a multi-vitamin and calcium citrate for the rest of your life. Also probably iron and B12. They aren't expensive though so don't sweat it. Good Luck and keep posting! action-smiley-065.gif

Hi Again Julie!!

In the beginning for me I ordered samples of Protien shakes from VITALADY.COM. I think they were $1 or $2 a piece but I could try lots of different ones then go from there! Personally, I didnt like many but that is me! My surgeon also did NOT want us using them..he wanted us to get our protien from FOOD! I LOVED the Fuzzy Navel one and it was more like orange juice and wasnt gritty or anything. THey have TONS of flavors too! CHECK IT OUT!
