thank you to everyone for there prayers and thoughts. Had my surgery on monday got out of hospital wednesday and took kids to truck show saturday night. I havent had any pain meds since he hospital on wednesday. the drain kind of gross es me out to dump but hopefully it will come out tomorrow along with some staples at my follow up. It been a week. I was so glad to get home. I had a really bad experience with incompitence with nurses and aids. my surgeons group were encredible. and couldnt wait to see them. let me tell you my surgeon and his assistant were both so hot made my pulse rise when they came in. how embarresing is that. started me out on full liquids to come home, I am so sick of tomatoe soup and potatoe soup and broth. I broke down yesterday and ate some mashed potatoes. felt good to have real food. I have a delima though they are telling me that my stomach is the size of a solo cup. the ones you seafood sauce comes in at restaurants. hows come i dont have any vomiting or nausea. Nothing i have ate has made me even remotely feel sick or to full. This morning I had a packet of grits and ate a little more than half and nothing happened. I am not complaining but it i didnt have this stupid drain and staples reminding me I feel like i had nothing down at all. I am glad i feel good I just guess i dont understand where i skipped all the bad is this normal? Hopefully tomorrow Ill get moved to soft solids and maybe that will be trickier but i am looking forward to some tuna or scrambeled egg or something the protein drinks are hard to get down and ive been drinking them cause its hard to get the protein on liquids. Ill try and keep in touch i just got my computer set up at new house. thanks for comments need lots on the food ideas

Welcome to the other side!

Just remember that soups, mashed potatoes, grits, any soft food like that passes very easily through your stoma. Once you get to eggs, and chicken salad you will definately notice a difference! I could only eat 3 spoonfuls at a time. Felt like I was gonna burst. Also I still can't eat Tuna cause I can't take the smell. I hope your sniffer doesn't go crazy like mine did! I feel like I'm 2 months pregnant, but it has lasted for a year. When you take your vitamins do you feel full?? I still get full after taking my 4 to 5 supplements. Don't worry it will get better over time. Just remember NEVER drink anything while you are eating or you will just wash everything out of your pouch. Hope this helps.

Hi and congratulations on what sounds like a very uneventful surgery! Hope all continues to go well for you. I agree that you will feel a difference when you eat more solid food. Just take it one day at a time.

Welcome home and Congrats on your newly chosen lifestyle. There's a lifetime of
tweaking ahead so enjoy the day as a smooth one. Firmer proteins will make you
feel that fullness you're looking for after your pouch heals a bit more.
You might want to beware of mashed potatoes and grits in that they
will start to hit your system too quickly and eventually cause
you to shake, sweat, become weak & nauseous (dumping syndrome... for some this
involves diarrhea). Yogurt usually sits well as a fermented milk product.. cottage cheese.
But enjoy these early days! You sound well and ready to go!

Welcome to the losers' bench...sliding down a space for you. Glad everything went well.
I agree w/ what Gina said about the foods, even the smelly tuna part. I have a problem w/ that also. I have to measure my soups so I don't eat too much. I can easily eat 1 1/2 c. of a soup if I don't measure it...learned that early.
Glad you posted. I've been wondering how your surgery went.
BTW, make sure to change your arrival date to agree w/ your surgery date.

Welcome to the other side!
You will learn a lot about how and what your new pouch likes and dislikes. Relax and enjoy the time that the pouch is not letting you know that it doesn't like something and don't worry..it WILL let you know when you eat something it doesn't like.

I believe i changed that last night. it should say feb 18 instead of the 15. went in today for 7 day check-up took out staples and the drain and told me i lost ten pounds this week. I didnt even have to bring a baby home with me! LOL. Anyway moved me to soft solids told me to have chicken before came back in four weeks. stopped at fridays and ate two peices of grilled shrimp and a 2 by 2 inch peice of grilled chicken. of course cut into 6 baby bites a peice but it was really good and went down flawless. I didnt know that a shrimp was more than one bite and i dont think ive ever cut one with a knife and fork. It was a great day.

First, congratulations on a successful procedure and the 10 pound loss!
If it were me, I would not force more in to see what will make you full. Imagine the size of that little cup, or just use one, and fill it with your meal. Then, take 30 minutes (insane, I know) to eat it. Slowly...it will get cold...microwave it...but be patient and get used to this new habit. You should feel fullness. Don't test to see what will make your pouch upset, just let it be!

So good to know that you're home and working on this side of the line to meet your goals. Thank you for taking the time to let us know what's going on with you!
The questions you're having are really normal--I'd say you're "right on schedule". I wondered if the surgeon had really done the surgery on me. Soft foods are supposed to go down easy and slide on through. That's why you're not feeling 'em. This is to give you a chance to heal well. Don't fight it or try to second guess it. Stay with the program. The program works. Let your body heal, but don't see how many calories you can take in in one day or at one meal. Work on establishing good habits and iron clad rules that you'll stick with to get to goal weight.
best wishes and keep us informed!
