Hi Everybody,
If you substitute a shake for a meal, are you supposed to wait a half hour before you start drinking again, like you do with food??? I haven't been waiting, but now I'm wondering if I should be. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

IN MY OPINION I WOULDN OT DRINK A PROTEIN SHAKE AND THEN DRINK RIGHT AWAY THE PROTIEN IN THE SHAKES R SUPPOSED TO MAKE U FEEL FULL AND IF U R DRINKING MORE LIQUID THAT WOULD PUSH THE OTHER FLUIDS OUT OF UR POUCH TO MAKE ROOM. I WOULD ADVISE TO WAIT!

Now I usually wait the 30 minutes after for a drink but will drink a couple of sips of water to get the taste out of my mouth. Early post-op it took me forever to actually drink my shakes so I would sip on them throughout the day so I would drink with them but I had to in order to get them all in. If you can wait I would.

I have to agree that if it is a meal you should wait to drink because you want to stay full longer.

I've always been told that you should wait. Both to stay full and to allow your body time to absorb as much of the protein as it can as it moves through your system. Drinking right on top of the protein could tend to push it through quicker and cause you not to get as much nutrition from it as you would otherwise.
