Curious to know if anyone has a diagnosed thyroid condition. If so has it stopped or slowed down your weight loss? Possibility I have one. I see doctor tomorrow.

Von,
I have Hypothyroidism and will take Synthroid for the rest of my life.
I don't think it has effected weight loss at all for me.
When I follow the rules, I lose weight. When I don't, I gain weight.
I also take a lot of different meds that supposedly cause weight gain. I don't use it as
an excuse anymore. If I eat like I'm supposed to, I lose weight.

I think Gretchen's answer is spot on.
I've been hypothyroid since about 1975. Take my synthroid faithfully everyday. If it does slow down, I don't know any different. I do know that I would feel yuck if I didn't take my meds.
Most thyroid conditions are manageable. Just get it checked out.

True dat... HyPO here... I'm willing to bet most of us are.
The usual Synthroid/ unithroid did nothing for me so I'm on
Armour Thyroid meds. It's derived from pig thyroids. Yup...
we do bear a resemblance to those critters. It's also prescription
just happens to tweak my system better. Your Doc will lead the way.
I feel HORRIBLE when I miss my meds. They might help you feel
better overall but I doubt they will have a major impact on
rate of loss. GOOD LUCK!

I'm diagnosed hypothyroid. It's the one condition that I had pre surgery that has not gone away. I take Synthroid daily and I test normal. No big deal for me.

I was just diagnosed as hypothyroid in December...seems to be very common as women age...
Still makes me laugh that I used to go to the doctor hoping she would find something wrong that could fix my weight problem - only when I got to my goal weight did I develop the problem! Life is funny that way.
Get it checked out - you will be fine once they get your medication set.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I know someone who had the surgery years ago and gained 20 lbs. Found out she had thyroid condition and took meds and lost the gained weight. Im not looking for excuses. Just want to be well informed.
