Being Leap Day, I thought this was a good time to start this thread.

Some of min:
TodayI didn't feel off balance when I walked up the steps.
I recently was able to lower my tilt steering wheel to the lowest position.
I can do the grocery shopping and still breath & walk!
I am ready to go down another pant size.
And you all know...I can cross my legs!

So, tell me, what are some of the little victories you have celebrated since your surgery?
Marla
Great idea Jeanie. Love this thread.

No bathroom or leg shaving gymnastics.

Breathing and walking at the same time

Kaykaing

Spin class

Fitting in one seat on a plane, train or subway

LIVING
Julie S
The Terry robe on the cruise ships actually closing all the way!

NO EXTENDER seatbelt on the plane= no embarrasment of having to ask for it.

Being able to buy clothes in ANY store I walk into.

INCREASED mobility

Increased self esteem

Looking and feeling SEXY even with excess junk in the trunk! lol...

Not nagging the hubby cuz he parked so far from the entrance

Walking without pain

Improved sexual activity cool-smiley-013.gif

An over all feeling of good health and physical fitness

All of this = LESS STRESS and an overall feeling of PEACE within myself!!

These of course are not in any type of order and I could go on for days!

Jeanie....great thread!

I can sit in a chair, and still bend to pick up someting off the floor without the chair sticking to my...<ahem>, well, y'all know.

I can fit through the little carousels at the store and not have to open the gates and go through where the shopping carts are kept.

I can run up and down the stairs <normally> and not be gasping for breath at the top.

I can make plans for my day and not have them revolve around whether or not I 'fit' where we are going, such as the movies...restaurants, etc.

I can fit normal undergarments in VS and NOT have to order from a specialty shop!

And...best of all...I can SING again...and not gasp for breath during pauses or have to sit between arias! cool0012.gif cool0012.gif cool0012.gif cool0012.gif <can you tell that makes me happy? lol>

What a GREAT THREAD! Lemmee see...

So far...
  1. I can reach my feet to put on socks and shoes without holding my breath and moving parts of me outta the way...
  2. I put on my "secret stash" boots - and they FIT! cool0012.gif 'Course, I cain't hardly walk in the dang things, but!! there's plenty o'time for that!! action-smiley-066.gif
  3. I'm down to a 20 - from a 26/28 in pants...! - seems pretty universal too! Yippee!! Haven't seen that size in over 5 years... and the funny thing is, I've been losing at a rate of 2-3 #'s a month for the last two months - yet I've in that same time frame lost two pants sizes... Go FIGURE!
  4. I can get up and down the scaffold at work without help... it's about 10 feet in the air with NO STAIRS, just a bar you step on to climb up or down... it's positively terrifying!!...
  5. Stairs stopped intimidating me... and the thought of walking around to do whatever doesn't faze me at all anymore!
  6. I can walk fast enough to keep up with the young 'uns I work with... albeit only for a brief minute or two - but it's better than nuthin'!! cool0012.gif
  7. I've been told I look like my boss' wife from the back... good news for me, although I'm not so sure how good that is for the boss' wife... (she's just given birth to their fourth child... somehow, I don't think I'll share this information with her for a bit yet, whaddya think?)
  8. I moved the seat in my car to where I wanted it to be... not where it HAD to be to accommodate my belly... way kewl!

Feels good to write those down... Thanks for starting this, Jean! It's great to share these little victories with people who understand!
Sandi
Stairs, everywhere. Thanks for reminding me, Jeannie!

Gosh how quickly I have taken things for granted and I didn't even realize it until reading this thread...THANKS JEANNIE for starting this and reminding me! cool0012.gif
  • fitting in any car seat with a seatbelt and NOT being totally uncomfortable
  • going to the mall or Wally World or anywhere else "shopping" without worrying that there will not be a place to sit and rest every 5-10 steps! cool0012.gif cool0012.gif cool0012.gif
  • not running out of breath just walking from my den to the restroom...and it's only about 30ft...
  • walking up steps almost normally (still have a bad knee, so can't run 'em like I used to)
  • being able to find/buy clothes in almost any store I go into...
  • being able to sit in a "BOOTH" vs. a table in any restaurant when dining with my dh and others party0003.gif
  • being able to wear cute strappy sandals/shoes with heels instead of flats or cushy slides (well, still wear those too, but now I have a choice...yeah!)
And so many more I could go on for days....

Luv and blessings to all!

I forgot about the booth thing. It is so nice to not be led to a booth & have to ask for a table.

And WalMart...I used to go to the shoe department to sit. Haven't done that in 3 months!

It is fun to read these, isn't it!

Terri
Being able to get on the floor and play with my grandson and not worrying about how I'm going to get back up.
Carrying laundry from the basement to the second floor without stopping on the main floor to catch my breath.
Spending an entire afternoon walking through the mall without having to sit for a break.
Thanks Jeanie....I needed that.

I'm trying not to focus on the fact that I haven't exercised in a couple of weeks due to illness.
I need to be grateful that TODAY!!!!! I will get on that treadmill again and resume
those enjoyable, fulfilling workouts! I do love them. It's good to be feeling better!

And check out that new pic of Marla! Sooooo beautiful!

Hey Darrie... refresh your page and it'll show up!
It's an odd little quirk in the HOOD.
Darrie
Tanks you Mick!! That did it!! Marla! You're adorable! Love the new pic...! Look at those CURLS!!!
BeJean
I have 2 new ones this week:

~~New bras...4 inches smaller around...WOW! what a difference in where the girls are sitting. And I can't believe how comfortable it feels to be in the right size. LOL Of course those of you who are longer post-op have already been there.

~~I went to the doctor's today & they didn't have to put the big cuff on to take my BP!
Marla
Ok ladies...

Thanks for my liking my new avatar pic. Oh wait - y'all love it! I guess I am beautiful and hot after all. And the curls - they are real and they are fabulous!
