Hello everyone. I'm scheduled for WLS on March 24th. I'm excited and scared at the same time. Like many I've struggled for years and years and years to loose weight ... losing 20 to 50 pounds only to put it back on again. I'm fortunate not to have a lot of severe health issues ... but I really want to lose the weight and I believe WLS is right for me. Any advice you have to offer for what I'm about to experience will be greatly appreciated. I've talked to the surgeon and have some pre-op stuff to get done ... but I'm sure the next 3 weeks will fly by. Wish me luck!!!

Congratulations! Your situation sounds like mine. I steadily gained every year since my grade school years. But I did end up with Type 2 diabetes. The important thing is that you have made the decision to have the surgery, you have the date scheduled, and you are a part of the Neighborhood now! The people here will answer any questions you have and share their experiences with you. Please post often and read, read, read. Good luck!

Welcome Special K
and congratulations on your upcoming date!
My advice is just to follow your surgeons protocol and anytime you have questions REACH OUT HERE in the neighborhood!
WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!
Read blogs, read the library and familiarize yourself about what is to come! That way you will be prepared but if you DONT know...PLEASE ASK!
We arent know it alls but we are veterans and I know for me..if it wasnt for all the love and support that I have received everyone...I would not be as SUCCESSFUL as I have been at 4 years out!
GOOD LUCK and GET EXCITED ABOUT YOUR LIFE!!
P.S. Please dont spend the next 3 weeks EATING everything you think you'll NEVER get again...I did that...gained an extra 14 lbs in 2 weeks prior to surgery and i've regretted gaining that extra weight ever since! You WILL eat those things you love again...well most of them...and it WILL be ok.
Keep us posted! Julie

Hi and welcome to the neighborhood. I too recommend that you read all you can here to prepare yourself for your future. It is a bright one and the more prepared you are prior to surgery, the better able you will be to have a speedy recovery afterward.

Welcome Special K and congratulations on your upcoming surgery. It will be here before you know it. The only advice I can give you is follow what your doctor tells you and get up and start moving as soon as possible after surgery.
Don't be afraid to ask questions from your new friends here in the hood. We've all been there and are more than willing to help out a neighbor.

Welcome specialk_mi!
Mind if I add you to my WLS prayer list for 3/24? That would be wonderful. I am a true believer in the power of prayer!
