My nutritionist at my center sent me home with my lab results from the blood testing. It was rather strange because none of the listed chemistries had the "normal range" listed beside the test. I sorta thought all lab results usually listed the normal range... hmm

Anyhoo's, I've just spent some time rolling through the internet looking for the normal ranges of the Chemistry completed on me... and I wanted to ask a question about these...

1. I can't find a normal range for b1.. anyone have it?

2. Is there a list of tests around that WLS peeps should always have done? I created a spreadsheet for myself so I can track my results, but I'm just wondering if there should be more labs being completed...?

Here's what my Center tested:

Here is a blog from one of our members that lists a very comprehensive list of labs she has done....I'm going to check with my surgeon regarding which ones are essencial because the list is great & if you don't have insurance coverage it will really be too costly.

Thanks Aseret!! I'll copy that one down!!

Hi Fuzzy -- Vitamin B1 is also known as Thiamin --- it helps with energy metabolism. Thiamin intake recommendations are 1.2mg/day for men and 1.1mg/day for women. Food sources of Thiamin include whole-grain, fortified or enriched grain products and pork. There is no known toxicity level, however deficiency symptoms include enlarged heart, cardiac failure, muscular weakness, apathy, poor short-term memory, confusion, irritability, anorexia and weight loss. Most multi-vitamins contain sufficient mgs of Thiamin for adequate nutrition. You can also look at fortified foods to find how much Thiamin is included.

Looks like your labs are very good --- keep up the good monitoring; this shows great ownership in your own health!

Thanks for the lists all. And for the info on Thiamin, Kaye!
