Hi all! Had my gastric bypass almost 5 years ago and was doing quite well unti recently when I inexplicably (meaning my habits haven't changed much) gained 10 pounds in the past few months.

Hoping to get some tips to get this under control before it gets out of hand. Happy to be here, looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hello and Welcome, you've come to the right place for tips and advice! I'm glad for you that you've only regained 10 pounds before you're starting to get a grip on it--from what I'm seeing that is the wiser course, so good work!

See you around the hood. Happy reading.

Hey Janice! What are you doin' telling my story!?!
But seriously... that is exactly what brought me stumbling in here
last November. This place is your answer! Start out by reading
all you can about the 5 Day Pouch Test (5DPT). It's the core of
recovery for most post-op folks who come here fro ideas.
Read a lot. Ask bunches of questions and don't second guess
the info here. I tell you, there are some brave, wise, committed
souls here who are h*ll bent to succeed and to help the rest of us
do so as well. The LAWLS Neighborhood is a place where things get done.
And joy is shared as well as occasional frustration. Stick around, Janice!
I think you'll like it here! sign0016.gif

Hi Janice! sign0016.gif

Welcome to the Hood! It's amazing how it can sneak up on us and it really doesn't take much. Just 100 extra calories a day can add on 1 lb per month. I think a lot of us ended up sliding a bit (eating sliders, adding carbs) in our eating habits without realizing it and before we know it had packed on a few (or more) lbs. But, that's why there's the 5 day pouch test! It works great and can help us get back on track! cool0012.gif

Welcome to the Neighborhood Janice!! action-smiley-065.gif

Yes, it IS a good thing you've come here now after just gaining 10lbs. It's ALOT easier to get a grip on it before it gets out of hand and seems overwhelming!!

ALot of us are doing the same thing...trying to get or stay motivated...losing the regain, 5 day pouch test....etc...we ALL NEED SUPPORT and we're glad your HERE!

Now...are you close to menopause? lol.. I will be 50 at the end of this year and man...I see changes I want to RUN FROM!! As if its not enough work just to keep on track...but to see an increase in pounds for no apparent reason or NEW LOVE HANDLES ( my surgeon told me we gain in the MIDRIFT during menopause...get thick) I DONT NEED NO STINKIN' THICK MIDDLE lol..

I'm THICK ENOUGH! But all in all...if it werent for the peeps in this neighborhood...I'd be a REAL SORRY CASE!

ROCK ON!! cool0012.gif

Stick around so we can be a part of YOUR JOURNEY!!

Hugs, Julie nature-smiley-008.gif aka: Sunshine of the HOOD!

Thanks for all the welcomes and encouragement. It's a bit of a relief as no one else seems to think 10 lbs is a big deal. But we know better don't we?

Hoping to get back on track soon. I owe it to myself. wub.gif

Oh and for the person who asked about menopause, my doctor said no last time I was there but maybe that's changed. Thanks!

Hi Janice,

Welcome to you! I agree with everyone, it is a good thing you are aware of the gain before it is 20 lbs, then more....good for you!!!

I am also 5 years out and I did the 5dpt a few weeks ago. It makes you so much more "aware" of the pouch and to stop eating when you feel satisfied. It also helps with snacks and getting more protein back into your diet. At least for me! I suggest you give it a try. There are always people here doing it together, it sure helps to have the support. Ask any questions you may have, we're all here to help you!

I agree with all of the above. The 5 DPT will totally help you regain the control that you are looking for. action-smiley-065.gif
