I was just assembing a presentation for a manager's workshop and thought that I'd share a bullet point. I really feel that many of us can benefit from these words and would highly suggest printing it out and putting it on the fridge, the door of the workout room, on your gym bag, the bucket of graham crackers, etc.
Have a No Excuses Policy
Excuses are like a plague. They can infect and destroy any positive plan. There can be an excuse for any failure and some are highly valid; however, if you accept one, you will be forced to accept many. Try to operate with the policy that you will succeed, no exceptions. You will operate with only one outcome in mind.

Good one I should use that for my exercise routine. I seem to find every excuse in the book to not do any like I should.

Thanks Kim....that truly hit home with me. I actually caught myself trying to get off the treadmill early today because no one was there to see me do it....and then I finally came to my senses and told myself I was only hurting myself in the long run.

Kim, thanks for sharing those words of wisdom. You always seem to know just what to say when I need to hear it most. I have been getting lazy over the past month and a half or so...and needed the boost! I am printing out several copies and putting them all over the house...

Something to keep in the fore-fronts of our minds.
My mind is always looking for a detour.
"Honesty above all else" - and "Do the right thing"
It's an exercise, not just a principle.

Yep. And isn't it amazing how much easier it is to notice others making excuses than noticing the excuses that we ourselves make? I appreciate this thought very much--thanks for posting it.

I'm glad that so many of you printed this out. I most certainly did and have it next to my computer at work.
I think that why I like this so much is that it acknowledges that some excuses are highly valid...however, they just seem to have the snowball effect in the long run. Of course the VP that wrote this out wasn't using it in regards to exercise or food choices. He was talking about managing a staff. It's our job to manage our bodies!
If you catch yourself in an excuse this week, come back and post it here. Tell us how you managed the situation!

Good advice that goes with the philosophy of "Don't try, just do"
