I am 1 month post-op and feeling very bad today. I ate Brunswick stew (1\2) cup yesterday evening and felt kinda sick when I went to bed. Got up this am and started gagging for about 5 minutes and got the foamies, only drank water to this point. I have been nauseated ever since and I am having a problem even getting in my water, any suggestions? Do you think it could still be from the stew? Yesterday was very emotional from anger to tears and now this, I hate this feeling!

I am sorry you are feeling bad. Its hard to say what makes us sick from time to time, but it def happens! It could be from not eating anythin today. that will make you sick feeling and weak,. dizzy sometimes. I doubt its from yesterday at this pt. I hope you feel better soon!

Hi amber,

Sorry you are being sick! I was on only pureed food at one month (I'm 5 months out now) Brunswick stew is delicious but it just might have been too rich for you. Was it made with chicken or anything richer?

Another possibility is that if you ate it too quickly your "new" system couldn't handle it. I still time out 2 minutes between bites and chew chew chew.

Sometimes if I feel like I have eaten too much or too fast I have yogurt for my next meal to give myself time to adjust.

Good luck. Hope it was just a bad piece of luck. This is the scary time when you get to try things out and find out what you can't tolerate!! sick0022.gif

You might have some acid build up...try taking a Pepcid to see if it settles things. Then...stay away from the stew!

What you are feeling emotionally is very normal - there are a lot of changes happening to you and around you.
I know for me it was big-time overload and it was tough.

Regarding the foot, I would contact your surgeons office ASAP -
They want to hear from you and will give you the proper advice.
They will also mark your chart and monitor the different sensations you are getting.

Very important that we keep in touch with them...
heck, that's what they are paid to do action-smiley-066.gif

CONGRATS of the weight loss!!
You ARE on the Melting side!! YAY

Sorry you're having problems. Could you have picked up a stomach flu bug? Was it the Brunswick Stew recipe from LAWLS? Does it feel like something is just stuck in your pouch? Whatever, if it is still continuing today, I think you should call your surgeon's office.

Feeling better today, not exactly normal but better. I ate the stew very slowly and chewed very well, don't have a clue what yesterday was about. I'm gonna drink a protein shake this morning and see how that does, maybe some tomato soup later if all goes well. The brunswick stew came from a restaurant and I won't be eating that again. Thanks for being so nice, I appreciate it! I'll keep you posted

I ate the stew very slowly and I chewed it to death. Don't know what happened yesterday, but I feel better today, not normal but better. This is a very scary time, I never seem to know what to expect next. Normalcy seems a long way away. Thanks for your support!

Thanks for your support, I really appreciate it. I feel better today, not normal but better. I guess I'll drink a shake this morning and maybe some soup later if I tolerate the shake. It seems like normalcy is a long way away, but I am hanging in there. Seems like a lot of emotions going, from anger to tears and I guess that is a normal feeling. Do you ever get to the point of eating normal foods? I'll keep in touch!
